Quality is good. I've had one on my car for 1.5 years and everything is O.K. I cannot drive a 944 without the short shift kit. The first thing I did to the newest 944 I bought was put a schnell short shifter in it. The shifts are so much crisper and a heck of a lot less throw. I love it!

Is this the one that mounts on the transmission? Didn't really seem like the proper upgrade since the lever and bar connection is where things often fail.

Yeah. It is. I've never seen any other type of 944 short shifter. Weltmeister makes the same kind of thing. I do need to buy a new lever and shift boot too cause mine is about the only thing that vibrates and it is freakin' anoying on the interstate.

Brando,
If you install one of these you will wonder how you drove the car all these years with the stock configuration.

I'm looking forward to getting one. When I had my Accord I bought one and it was great.

Yes and no. Technically the less amount of time it takes to change the gears could put extra wear on the synchros since your making them do a little more work. Personally i think as long as you match the shifts right and your not slamming it into gear, it really dosent matter.
