anyone turbo'd an N/A 944? custom or turbo 944 OEM stuff?
 

looking for some experience w/ it whats gotta be done?
turbo, manifold, oil send/return, coolant send/return, intercooler
fuel, ecu?

looking what i need to get what anyone has done to
do this

There are a ton of threads about this if you use the search button.

One thing to be prepared to read alot is... "Sell your n/a and buy a 944 Turbo". I kind of agree with that. Unless the car has some sentimental value, it would be much easier in the long run to buy one turbo'ed from the factory. Alot of things changed, suspension and brakes to name a few.

try reading dude its a lot of fun. there are two forced induction threads on the first two pages.

It is seriously time to have a sticky on the front page explaining the reasons not to turbo an NA unless you are very mechanically inclined and have a ton of time and money on your hands.

But honestly buy a turbo or spend a ton of time transplanting all the parts from a turbo to your NA. If you want to keep your original NA block, I would go the supercharger route, but both of these options take a bit of know how. Check out the thread right by this called the HAUSBRAUEN SUPERCHARGER.

Note to new guy. I asked the very same question a couple of days
after i joined too. and got my head bit off. these guys hear this question
about once a week and get very frustrated over it.

your best bet is to search for a thread about the topic rather than ask
these questions that have been patiently answered time and time again.
for example just read my thread titled: turbo me and you will
understand a whole lot more.

Now. get ready to hear the following sentence over and over again.

sell your N/A and buy a 951 ( 944 turbo )

why? well its true that the 944 can be turbocharged.
but you will have more money wrapped up in the project than
you would if you bought a 951. and still not have something reliable,
as powerful, as inexpecive, as a 951.

you could swap a 951 motor into your 944 but then
you will need the rest of the drivetrain to go with it.
and the the 951 price tag too. exept when it comes
time to buy parts for it or have a mecanic work on it

no one would be willing to take resposibilty for the job and your
frankenwhat 9?? will be a puzzle for you and the autoparts store.

your best bet would to just be happy with your 944 or buy a Carrera GT
oops i mean 951.

if your still dead set on building yourself a heartattack 44 then gather
the parts and start postin pics.

if you've got a short attention span, it boils down to this:

It will cost more than a 944 turbo and won't be as good in any regard.

if you've got an even shorter attention span (and tighter grip on your wallet than most), it boils down to this:

sell 944 buy 951

either route, you're in for an exciting time :)
