Time for new carpet

I'm getting rid of my Brown/Tan interior and want to do a black interior. I have some custom stuff I am going to be doing and it's a lot easier to match black. Plus I hate the current color.

I want to get all new carpet for the car. Where is a good place to go?

The only place I found that sells the original type carpet for the 944 is World Upholstery. They offer the original FAV type carpet but they have to order it from Germany as it isn't made or sold here in the US. I can't remember how much it was to do the entire car but I'm thinking it was between 6 and 7 hundred but you need to check for yourself to be sure. You can buy the American style cut pile carpet for that car anywhere for probably around 100 dollars but the quality isn't anywhere close to the original carpet. Some of us are suppose to be doing some research on how to take our old carpet and redye it but I haven't held up my end of that very well. I plan to head over to Barnes and noble and read about how to restore some other models of Porsches and see what they say in those books...maybe I'll do that tonight.

Thanks. I was planning on going over there tonight maybe I'll see what I can find. Let me know what you learn. I know when I've used the stuff from autozone before it works fine out of high traffic areas. Maybe if you did you whole carpet and then bought black floor mats and a black trunk mat it might work out ok.

I've never bought anything from them before, but a company called Mid America Motorworks has got carpet sets. And the price isn't bad either... Here's the link: http://www.tweeks.com/shop?frame=6.89.5052

i bought mine from world upholstery in black, it cost me about 300 bux but i redid all the carpet myself, including insulation for about 400 bux. I took all the seats, old carpet and insulation out, cleaned up the inside with a medal brush powered by a very powerful drill then sprayed with rubberized undercoat and sound eliminator. It took in total about 15 hours but it was done well, the car is considerably quieter and smells a lot better too . The old stuff was green and moldy hence the bad smell. Its not a scary job at all and im only 17.....those carpet sets look ok, however if u choose to do this open up the package as soon as u get it and lay out the carpet so it doesnt stay folded, otherwise you'll have to use some heat and pressure to mold it back

thanks for the tip. I have a partial sponsership for sounds deadening material, like Dynamat. So I'm going to do that from the firewall back too. I might spring for real or real like carpet. I want it to look good.

try removing your old carpet and taking the pieces to a carpet shop and ask them to make a new set in black using your existing pieces as a template.
worth a shot?
