hairline crack in coolant reservoir
Just that. Tiny little crack on top, and after running the engine a while some coolant bubbles through. No overheating issues so far. Anyway I'm thinking of replacing it if its not too tough since I got a free week with tools and a garage ahead of me. There isn't a procedure for R&R on clarks garage. Is it pretty straightforward? Anything to be wary of aside from draining it first? Do I need to make sure the system is ENTIRELY clear of the green antifreeze before putting in a non-phosphate mixture?

The coolant reservoir replacement is fairly straight forward. I replaced mine a couple months ago because I could barely see the coolant level through the sides. It's basically unclamp a couple hoses, unscrew a couple bolts and pull.
If you're changing coolant types, make SURE to flush the system. If you mix two types they can for a sort of gel which = bad. Even then it's fairly easy to flush the system with a bunch of water anyways. |
