High Flow Cat

Just wondering if anyone sells high flow cats for a 944 or 924s. How much are they and will this increase performance?

Thanks

they are sold. i'd only use one to replace a trashed cat. the porsche cats are pretty high flowing, from what i've heard.

I doubt 944 cats are high flow. First of all they are very early cat technology and secondly people are reporting gains from removing them. A modern high flow cat will NOT reduce power.

"people are reporting gains from removing them"

show me dyno, not 'butt dyno'.

I replaced an original stock cat last week with a bolt on universal. I passed emissions with the porsche cat back in october, but my only theory is that the old cat had to be clogged/restrictive, because this universal one changes the whole personality of the car... Much more responsive to open throttle. After 17 years and 85000 miles, for the $100 the universal cat cost me, I look at it as a maintenance item.

livewire, any specific brand that they used? Have been considering putting in a new cat on my car also. Also you need a 2.25 inch in and out right?

Eastern Catalytic, I think was the manufacturer. Purchased off ebay, shipped out of NY, recieved next day via DHL. I paid $118. including shipping. Came with 4 hangers, and already had the pipes, in and out, (either 2.25 or 2.5, whichever is stock) already welded in place. Direct bolt on to the catback pipe, the pipe from the exhaust manifold had to be cut and welded after the o2 sensor. Cost me 1hr of shop time at the local mieneke.

edit: ebay seller was replacementautoparts.

Consider Random Technology as well. They produce a quality product and when Sport Compact Car did a test on a 240SX (similar engine to the 944) the RT cat resulted in the same power as w/o the cat and actually produced one more lb/ft of torque.

I was so far looking into the CarSound / Magnaflow highflow cat..they are about $120 (something like that) from Jeg's. Ill shop around the local muffler places and see what they carry. Thanks guys.

Random Tech and Magnaflow are both good high flow cats. I had one of the Random Tech 'bullet' cats on a previous car, and it performed and sounded more like a test pipe than a cat.
