random wheels question
I am just putting this out there in case anyone knows the answer... (and to incite discussion)
The wheels that I want to get would be 16" fuchs, supposedly 16X6 front and 16X7 rear, with 205X50 front and 225X60 rear tires. I have 15X7/225X60 cookie cutter wheels and tires all-around now. Over what I have now, how much lighter, if at all, would my dream setup be? |
It all depends on what type of tires you are gonna run. See if tire rack or some other tire company or even go to town fair and weight the tires also have someone weight the Fuchs.

the 15" fuchs i have on my car now can be lifted with my baby finger (with inflated rubber)..... they're extremely light. I have no experience with cookies so i dont know how they would compare as far as weight goes.

fast,
okay, same question, but let's assume that the tires are all the same weight. |
Why in the world would you want to put 16x6 wheels on the front and 16x7's on the rear. If you autox, you'd be much better with 15x7 and 15x8 Fuchs with 225x50x15 all around or maybe slightly bigger in the rear. The 16's would be okay for track days but definitely not in 6". Firestone has great deals on 225x50x15 SO3's. These are perhaps the best street tires for ultimate handling. For a softer ride, try Goodyear Eagle 1 GDS's. I'm looking for another set of 15 Fuchs. :p

Well.......you can rev up 15" wheels slightly faster than 16's which is a slight advantage for autocross. But the 16s would give you slightly more on the top end which would benefit a track situation. Plus 15's are always cheaper to run.....The absolutely hottest 944 autox car in the northwest, runs 15x8 Fuchs.

for the street go with the 16's. AutoX 15's, tires are cheaper to buy new and easier to find used.
