throttle cable
the throttle cable. I see that mine is worn.
does it, at rest, put tension on the pulley at the top of the throttle body? If i remove the cable, the pulley stops in the same place. my cable is letting it rest in it's most counter-clockwise position. when you turn it clockwise by hand, you can hear a click within the first few degrees of turning it.. it rests just beyond this click (beyond meaning in a counter-clickwise postition.) is this too far? or is it normal?

I think the click you are hearing is the throttle position switch. The switch position is adjustable and you want it to click just as the throttle is closed. I adjust my throttle cable to make sure that it will fully open the throttle with the pedal down. Then I check to see that the throttle fully closes when the pedal is up. There is usually a little bit of slack with the throttle closed. Do not use the throttle cable adjustment to match the throttle position to the switch - use the switch adjustment for this. The switch is held onto the throttle body with two screws. Loosen them to position the switch.

great
so as the throttle is being let out... *just* as it's about to close all the way, you're supposed to hear the click?
