Ebay generally has some cd versions. Actual factory manuals - unlike the cd copies of them go for around £400 a set over here (UK). You can't actually buy them from Porsche direct because they're restricted (ie they don't want you knowing the wizard's tricks. We usually have to buy them in from America (your freedom of information means they can't be restricted there.

unfortunately because they're copyrighted, it'd be illegal to download them. If we gave that information, porsche could get really grumpy towards pelican parts and hold them responsible...

I'm assuming it the 5sp manual trans.

It has been awhile since I took one apart so I may not be remebering correctly.

There should be a large rubber plug on the back of the trans you have to remove then there is a bolt holding a gear on that has to be removed before the back comes off.

I can't remeber how the main case comes off you have to undo parts of the linkage and twist them a certain way to get the gears to come out of the case.

A few advertisers in Excellence sell the factory 944 mnuals for about $300. I have looked through them and they are very detailed - Haynes is pathetic compared to the factory books. The CDs on ebay are probably illegal photocopies.

The PET diagrams can be found here:

http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/classic-originalparts/originalparts-originalparts/

They give you some usefull exploded views and are free to download.
