Does anyone know what kind of Porsche this is?

Ever since the Porsche has been advertised I have been facinated with many of these images and I remember this particular car was at the shop I worked at when I was 16 back back in the day.

Let me know if you know what year model this is. (I am pretty sure this is old)

I also appologize if this is sacreligious.

993 on a mid 80's SC tub.....993 is circa 93-98 last of the air cooled 911's.

The flag-style mirrors would put it in the 80s or so, wouldn't they?

It looks like it's about to eat that poor mechanic. Of course, that could be my Freudian interpretation...

Another vote for 993 because of the headlights.

Yes that looks like a turbo wing but tha tdon't mean a thing.

You would have much better luck posting this on the 911 board they are pretty sharp (in more ways than one ), I bet you would get a detailed answer in fifteen minutes.

I say its a 930 because of the roof line - although both the 964 and 930 used the same roof. The mirrors I think are more 80's then 90's, so I'm going with the older one.

It is a 911

Well, the body kit is 993, no doubt about that.

But there is also no doubt that it didn't start life as a 993. The flag mirrors signal that the car is 964-or-older. Looking at the molding around the windshield, I would say that the car is even older than that. Probably a 911SC or Carrera 3.2 with a 993 body kit.

If the original poster of this thread (or anyone else) is confused by this esoteric numerology, the evolution of the 911 goes thusly:

901/911 (pre "impact bumper" cars, aka "long-hoods") - 1964-1973
911/911 Carrera (impact-bumper cars) - 1974-1978
911SC - 1978-1983
911 Carrera 3.2 - 1984-1989
964 - 1989-1993
993 - 1993-1998
996 - 1998-2005
997 - 2005-?

If you didn't know, the 930 just denotes a 911 Turbo built from 1975-1989... in other words, a 930 is a Porsche 911 Turbo with the impact-bumpers.

The "roof line" for the 911 never underwent any drastic change until the 996 showed up.

I guess I should say roof panel. The 993 I beleive was the first 911 in a long time to use a different peice of metalwork for the roof. The 993 may have had a similar roof line, but it it is different. I culd be wrong on that though.

The body kit is going for the look of a 993 RSR, but the front spoiler is the wrong shape and the RSR had bolt on fender flares.

A 993 IS a 911. 993 is the internal model designation for the air-cooled Porsche 911 built from 1993 til 1998.

Upon closer inspection, the car in the first set of pics also has the older, impact-bumper rear section.

haha, cool, i used to have a 740 turbo, have a 944 now. I would say you should go for it and get the 944, you won't be disappointed.

It's a franken-porsche!

Headlights are 993, and hood is 993...but its not a 993

- If you look closely, the wiper blades are all wrong...the base of both of them should be close together in the middle...but they are far apart.

- The rearview mirror is mounted too low.

- I'll also add that it has a GT2 engine lid+spoiler

I agree with Fusco, it's clearly not a 993, but an earlier 911 with 993 parts added. My best guess would be 930 as well.
