Suspensions

Alright guys i've got some catching up to do. In all my learning about cars (all 2 years worth), i've never really learned how the suspension operates and what does what. When people tell me they got coil overs, I non my head and smile and say wow really just because its lost on me. I was hoping a few of you guys could go through and explain the major componenets of the suspension and tell me what each part does and what changes will result in (i.e. thicker sway bars reduces body flex)

Ontop of that, i've got a project 83 car that I will be restoring/build-up, so if you want to add some input onto what you think would be a good suspension set-up for it, go ahead.
