wilks chip switch placement
hey guys, just wondering of everyone running wilk's dual chip.. where did you end up putting the toggle switch? I'm thinking of putting it on my console of switches right behind the shifter, with one of those 'safety' guards on it that you need to flip up before you hit the switch...
|
I havent installed a switch yet, just run the wilk ALLLLLL the time, Your idea sounds good, But the safty switches are kinda big and it might not look right there, It also might look really good, I havent decided LOL ;-)
|
Mine is on the side of my DME...It has worked well for me so far
|
well with gas prices the way they are, I'd love to be able to turn it off.. lol
that said, i see what you're saying fast.. you're right, the big clunky safety switches might not look right there... I was also thinking of just getting a stock center console switch, and drilling a small hole in it for an LED to use in place of the toggle switch that comes with his chip... chip is on, LED powers up.. chip is off, LED is off.. that, i think, would be my best option.. I'd put it on the side of the DME, but I'd much rather have it accessable while driving... |
Yea I think your second idea would be alot cooler cus it will look stock.
|
my switch is on the left side of the dme. easy access, but like fast924s, i leave it on pp position all the time. only exception is for emissions testing.
as far as fuel consumption goes, for some reason, it actually works out better on the highway in pp position. around town, its maybe a little less. i think once you fit the chip, you tend to develop a lead foot for the first couple weeks, as you "evaluate" the difference. look fwd to seeing your review!! bob. |
anyone care to elaborate what exactly this is? I've heard a bit about it, I know it's a computer upgrade, but this sounds a little more involved than a standard re-flash or chip replacement.
oh, and how much gains are we talking? thanks |
Aero, Wilk makes a chip that has two programs flashed onto it.. 1) his PowerProm "chipped" program, and 2) the original "stock" program on it.. you can attach a switch to it (with full instructions provided by him.. it's a simple addition) to switch between the two.
the gains are impressive. Not sure of actual numbers, a search of this forum should yield you a dyno or two... but it basically moves the power band of the engine down to a lower RPM (that's my understanding, at least) where it will benefit you more. |
bad ass.. thanks.
