Stuttgart museum

A few cool cars, but over all I found the Porsche museum in Stuttgart an embarrassment to the marque...10-12 cars total...no 'non-race' 911 or 944...come on....very disappointing...wait until 2007 to see the new museum...for now, go to Mercedes to see what a classic museum should be...

I guess it wasn't that bad then

What other cars did they have there? Was there a 935?

Compared to the M-B museum acorss town, the Posrsche museum is embarrassing....granted the Porsche company is much smaller, but the MB museum is 20 x better - in every way - and it isn't even complete yet.....I guess if you had never seen a speedster or an early beetle, Porsche would be more impressive....but Porsche has SO many more cars in their collection than they have on display....and the displays are merely a nice garage/showroom - MB is a multimedia experience ( and the race car simulator isn't even open yet)

I visited the Museum September of '05 and found the display Out Standing. This is a Small room and the actual collection is several hundred cars. The cars on display are rotating constantly so I guess at any one time you could find something less that your personal favoites. When I visit Porsche #1 was on the floor along with the first 911, 959, a 951 rally car, 3 Lemans winners, the first 356 racer, the INDY car, and a dozen more. The mix was great with street & track, engines like the flat 18 cylinder, cut away transmissions and chassis. Buying the Museum Book gave me an overview of all the other cars that we may see more of in the new and much larger facility due to open soon. Sure MB has a bigger place and some cool racing heritage ... but it is not Porsche!.

Wow

NONE of those cars were on display on Saturday......the indy car was there.....the museum was ok - I am glad I was in town and didn't travel around the word to get there.,...THAT would have been disappointing...and yes - the HQ showroom (and parking lot) were just as interesting....I am a PORSCHE fan - just not a blind one
