Crappy running 944 S2 warm or cold...Help!!

Ok I have been a bad boy, I stored my perfectly running well kept 944 S2 in a rush just before winter in the worst conditions ever, I had to leave the country for work and I didnt take care of my S2 for the whole winter.Bad Bad Bad I know I deserve the troubles I am experiencing now.

The car has been garaged in a damp ,humid and freakin cold garage up north in Canada, battery hasnt been disconnected so I had to buy a new battery.

I started the car last week , after I checked the oil level first. The car started but ran very rough, dark grey smoke at the exhaust pipe and a tic tic tic from under the valve cover that finally quieted down.

The car ran rough , even after a while, I drove the car for 50 miles(painfully) and runs rough almost all the time it bogs when I accelerate smoothly or abruptly. Sometimes it runs fine for a few seconds, and accelerating fast and cleanly normally in between two bogs!!....But 90% of the time the thing ran like crap...

I own more than one sports car, But I am a real newbie with porsche products. So any help would be appreciated, What can go wrong while the car isnt moving or starting for 6 months?

I thought about the spark plugs wires ,plugs ,rotor, ignition stuff etc etc ...but on this forum very few people seems to experience problems with ignition coils, spark plugs or wires on their 944s, most of the time people are talking about fuel delivery, injectors , or TPS connections etc... what are your thoughts about my problems? please help...

Thanks

how long was it stored? did you put in a gas additive?

I put my 944S into storage in a barn and left the battery in as well. The battery was completely dead but after putting it on a charger things have been fine. I to did get a bit of smoke on its inital start up and the car didnt exactly run perfectly during the drive home. I think this is normal, thankfully everything is running smoothly now.

I think you may have bad gas.

bad gas from a few months storing it? not likely....
I let mine sit in the driveway all winter, uncovered, October to March, and after charging my battery (before my vacuum leak issue) it ran great... a lil smoke out the pipe, but that cleared up in a hurry...

I would vote for one of two things ...both involve the fuel system. I would drain all the gas from the tank and refill with new gas. If it still runs rough...I would also suggest that you probably have sticky fuel injectors. If you have the time, send them off to witchhunters and have them cleaned. You can try some cleaners like B12 or Marvel Mystery oil and they might help, but the only sure way is to get them cleaned.

could be

bad gas is definitely a possibility that shouldn't be overlooked! always try the simplest things first! add a can of chevron techron fuel injector cleaner or another good brand and top off with fresh gas, the injectors could be a little gummed up from sitting. next i would check my rotor and dist. cap, it could be all crappy from moisture or even a cracked cap. then, if it still not good pull your spark plugs and check them out. An oil change is definitely in order but that shouldn't affect the way it runs. again, start with the simple easy things, good luck, let us know. jc

OK I will try this, and let you know, I am out of town now for business but as soon as I get back I will try the injector cleaner, new oil,and fresh gas.

This S2 has 87K miles and used to purr like a kitten, now its a bucking bronco! Grrrrrr anyway thank you very much for all the input, I really appreciate it.
