The one I found my daughter is white w/ the Union Jack painted top. It'sway cool.

shikzachaser 10-17-2006 06:31 PM

The MAF is a reprogrammed Ford. Professional Mass Airflow Systems packages it as a kit with their little controller for Lindsey and apparantly others. They have told me they don't deal w/ the general public. I have had a really hard time getting any information on it. I finally got a schematic for hook-up last week. I sourced out the adaptor hose from a guy in California. The car runs but definately needs fine tuning. It idles fine and has great low RPM power but has no quick throttle response, it bogs down bad. I will try working with it over the weekend.

MAF Controller

I did not post a pic of the controller:

Razorback1980 10-19-2006 08:43 PM

Well Steve....guess you are going to have a hang over in the morning... :) Congrats to you and the Cardinals. Going to Detroit?

Schumi 10-19-2006 08:54 PM

I may be getting tickets. We had a 'small' get together tonight.. of about 20 people + 50 inch plasma TV. It was a nail biter. Molina of all people came through. You know what those people in NY are going to be thinking the next week: "The CATCHER?" After Wainwright threw the last strike, celebration erupted. Drinks are still flowing as they will be the rest of the night...

Eldorado 10-19-2006 08:56 PM

had no idea there were so many Molina catchers... Bengie (go jays!), Yadier (cards), and Jose (angels)..

Razorback1980 10-20-2006 12:06 AM

Wait a minute...Schumi, drinks are flowing and you are posting here? What are you thinking?

shikzachaser 10-20-2006 01:59 AM

I can't believe they pulled it off. The Mets should have won the game last night w/ the momentum they had after "the catch". That had to be one of the best plays I have ever seen. I have a bad feeling about the Card's chances with Detroit. If I had to put money down I would say Detroit in 5. Leyland should be commended for what he has done with those guys.

Rolen is doing his normal disappearing act when it matters. I honestly would like to see him watching the games from the dugout alongside Wilson w/ Spezio playing every game at third, Taguchi in left in the games in Detroit, Duncan in left at home and being the DH in Detroit.
The Tigers are not going to lay down and score 3-4 a game, those boys can mash. We have tickets for game 2 here, I'm looking forward to it, I just hope it's not the final game for the Card's (unless they sweep). If that happen's I'll buy all 15,000 people that have read this post a cold one, just kidding.

Go Cards, win that one out of 5 for me.

Tom:

Party animal that I am I fell asleep on the couch in the 9th. I had one margarita and was gone so probably no hangover today. We have had a brutal week, you old retired guys remember those. If you get a chance give me a call over the weekend, I am having trouble getting the MAF program to load and maybe you can talk me through it. I need to reload the MAF controller w/ the proper 944 parameters.

Thanks:

Steve

shikzachaser 10-20-2006 12:48 PM

Well I went down to the dyno shop today to get on the schedule. Joe is definately humoring me. He set aside Nov 3 for a half day to dial in the MAF and get everything set up as much as possible and then give me some dyno numbers. He is a 5 bay small shop and sitting there were 5, count them 5, Vipers in various states from a tune up to one receiving a new head and Supercharger. He also has his Viper and he said two more customer units sitting at his house ready for work. I will post a couple pictures, it's actually pretty cool to see the stuff sitting around. He fired one up and it was impressive to say the least. It's amazing to me to see 700+ horsepower figures. I do think it's an ugly car though, just brute force. He also had 2 Mustang Cobras sitting there w/ one getting nitrous and one getting a Supercharger. I will probably be the lowest powered thing that's ever been in there. He does agree that if I get a top notch blower I should get at least 200 RWHP w/ 8-9 PSI of boost. I could get more but I really want to drive it that way for a year until I save up a few sheckels for a new transmission and clutch. With only around 2500 lbs and the new suspension it should still be a lot of fun. I just wish that it had not taken this long. Oh well, I guess the anticipation is part of it. I did feel kind of good in that a couple of the Viper owners were there and did not make fun of me. They actually were really interested in the little car, especially when I told them it was 22 years old, that part still surprises people as it looks much newer in style. You just don't see many of these cars around anymore that aren't trashed. I get the same comment from 90% of the people that say something "is that a turbo"? I have been so fustrated with the SC issue that I debadged it, the 944SC emblem is off until it has the SC.

Steve

jgp0rsche 10-20-2006 01:03 PM

1/2 day of dyno time is a joke. i hope he isn't charging the normal $100/HR. For an experienced tuner, it should take no longer than 2 Hrs TOPS!

shikzachaser 10-20-2006 02:02 PM

Easy there big fella.
He's a friend of mine that I stamped improvement plans for so he could get a building permit. He is going to let me hang around and consequently it will take him more time answering my stupid questions. He also had stupid questions for me relative to code requirements, etc.
I guess the questions really are not stupid, just simply inquisitive remarks directed towards someone in another technical field. He's a cool dude and extremely knowledgable in his realm. He is highly respected among the American muscle guys for integrity and performance.

There will also be a few glasses of wine consumed that should also kill an hour or so.

Steve

pozican 10-20-2006 03:01 PM

Pictures would be awesome :D

Love to see your dyno numbers too post-nov 3rd :D

shikzachaser 10-20-2006 04:23 PM

Yeah, I am somewhat curious if any of the stuff I have done really makes any difference. It feels better, definately handles better, and dog gone it sounds better.

Steve

Razorback1980 10-20-2006 06:08 PM

How could you fall asleep in the 9th? When he had two on with no outs, I was biting my nails and I didn't care who won! :) I was pulling for the Cards though...because it makes the Astros look better. The pitcher really did his job and earned his money. I figured he would get pulled, but they trusted him and he came through. For a young guy, he really took the pressure well.

Hope your father-in-law is doing better. I'll give you a call in the morning and see if we can get the MAF reloaded for you.

Hey, I have had a brutal week also...today was the official last day at work....officially retired, so for those who have my HP email address, it will no longer work. Went into the office for the first time in the last six weeks and got there about 10. They wanted to go to lunch around 11, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't late for that. Came home around 2ish and fell asleep on the couch for a short nap. Didn't want to over do it. :)

Eldorado 10-20-2006 06:15 PM

hey tom, i expect many email updates on your car then!!!

it's gonna be a brutal week this week coming up... Bell is talking about moving me out to Calgary for a few months..

Razorback1980 10-20-2006 06:27 PM

Kyle...you sound like my daughter! I have been scolded this last week for not getting more done on her car. I will be making some progress with it starting next week.

I wouldn't expect too much right away.... unfortunately, I had a friend that his house flooded from the rain we had on Monday and I was helping him pull wet carpet from his house and I popped my achilles tendon in my left foot. I swear, if I had to do an honest days work, it would kill me. Looks like I'm going to be resting for a while. Doc's quote..."you are 48 not 28, so it would be best to stop using your back and start using your head and use tools to lift heavy objects". Hard to argue when I'm in his office complaining about how much my foot hurts. Updates will be coming soon.

shikzachaser 10-21-2006 02:48 AM

Tom:

It was the wierdest thing with the game. I found myself rooting for the Mets, especially after Rolen's ball got pulled back. The Cardinals just act too much like their freak manager. The Mets seemed to have a lot more emotion and Randolf seems like a class guy. Tony is one bizarre dude, everything is so overanalyzed. It takes a lot of fun out of the game. I still think they will get absolutely hammered by the Tigers. A couple runs a game won't cut it w/ those boys and them having 6 left handers is going to kill the Cards.

Definately sorry to hear about your hamstring. Did you do a full tear? That can be a painful 6 months of rehab. I saw Conroe on the national news. Unbelievable amount of water in that time period. I wound up leaving the software w/ dynoboy yesterday. He wanted to check out what I had prior to me bringing the car over. My father-in-law is a tough old dude. It was determined that the internal bleeding was caused by too much blood thinner. Apparantly this is pretty common. They were able to do two stints and incredibly he was released yesterday. He is going to stay with us at least a week just to be on the safe side. I guess it will be like when Jeannie and I first started dating where we have to sneak around so her dad doesn't hear us. He is a great guy so it's no big deal. His little weiner dog is another story. The thing is really smart, it's just that he thinks he owns the place. He is banished to a ceramic tiled porch right now. The little jack off stood in the Kitchen again and looked right at me with one of those dog smiles then left a hot danish right on the floor. It's sick. We have to leave a TV in the room with him along with his favorite stuffed animal or he gets upset.

Steve

Razorback1980 10-21-2006 09:08 AM

I don't think I did a full tear, the lump is only on one side, so I'm hoping for a quicker recovery. We received 12.5" of rain on Sunday night but what hurt is it was in about a five hour window which is what caused it to rise into his house. Unfortunately, I think you are right about Detroit.

I am still hopeful that I can get more done on the 944 next week as I have most of my other projects out of the way now. So updates will start showing up soon Kyle.

Good news about your father-in-law. I can relate to that blood too thin problem. Mine blood was more alcohol that blood one time after this party....wait, different problem, isn't it? Still good news.

shikzachaser 10-21-2006 02:35 PM

Tom:

I'll probably thin mine tonight. I am going over to a buddy from college's house to watch the game. I love that Reposado Tequila. It has become a basic food group, along w/ Tex-Mex. Fortunately there are a couple places that have opened up here, I have been going through withdrawl since I moved here. I actually found one that does excellent Carnitas. The Mariachis let me sit in when I'm not too toasted. I will have to post a couple pics sometime.

Jeannie's dad is doing great. He wanted me to get him a shot of Jack Daniels for his "cough" before the game tonight.

Take care of the Achiles, that can be a brutal injury.

Steve

shikzachaser 10-21-2006 07:45 PM

I guess I better take back those disparaging remarks about the Cardninals before I am dipped in Budweiser, rolled in Imo's pizza, topped with Ted Drews and left to dry in shame in front of the arch (you have to be from here to understand).

Steve

Razorback1980 10-21-2006 08:53 PM

Like I said...the Cards are looking great! :) I guess that means your tickets became more valuable tonight, didn't they?

Dipped in Bud and rolled in pizza...is that someone's idea of punishment? I haven't sat in on any bands in restaurants here in Houston (although I have tried!) but I was in Boston a few months back and played Hotel California and a few other tunes with a couple of guys there....at you guessed it...Cheers! Pretty exciting. That was my first time to play in front of a crowd and when I was bragging to my daughter, you know what the first words from her mouth were?....Dad, please please please tell you didn't sing. Kids...why do we have them again? :) I guess I can't blame her....I really am terrible...and no I didn't.

Goto an autocross and compare times of a viper to that of a nicely setup 944....

Aditionally, spend half the $60K if would time to pickup a viper and gobble up a 951 Cup car and gobble up the Viper on the track.

The 944 is definately nothing to be embareassed about especially when one looks as killer as yours does.

Oh, and how about those Cards.....

...I was getting out of a competing in a Kart race up in Earth City when I heard the news. I'm going to see if I can scalp some tix.

shikzachaser 10-22-2006 03:56 PM

The Neighbor's Car

Talk about feeling inferior when I go out in my 944!! This is my next door neighbor's ride. It did 596 HP @ the crank. It is going to be auctioned off in April in South Carolina. Dude is already looking for a Ford GT. This is one of the South African Aluminum authorized Shelby cars w/ an original 427 side oiler he found new in the crate for $20K, yes $20K for the motor. He has over $70K in it not counting time and it's even badder than it looks.

Tom:

You can appreciate the truck. He did a cummings turbo diesel and it is totally tricked out. I can't believe he humors me and my little car. I gotta get that blower this winter. He has offered to help do the install.

Steve

Razorback1980 10-22-2006 05:27 PM

Truck looks similar to mine...only I don't have 4 wheel drive. No snow in Houston. Is that a horse trailer behind it or a car trailer? I like his car though....really like the color. 20K for an engine...costly but worth every penny. The new Mustangs from Saleen have about the same HP but I don't know the cost.

shikzachaser 10-22-2006 06:34 PM

Car trailer, no horses here in the ghetto. The engine was really high but apparantly finding a 1967 iron block side oiler w/ 0 miles still in the crate was a huge deal. he got it somewhere in Arkansas. He's actually talking about sticking in an aluminum 427 and keeping this one for a future project. The thing shakes the ground when he fires it up. Some guy passed me the other day in a new GT500 Mustang and I have to admit I was impressed. I'm not much of a newer American car guy but they are pretty cool. I have a friend of mine here that got a Ford GT about 6 months ago and it's bad to the bone, just way out of my league.
Now maybe an old Pantera, they are out there fairly reasonable.

Steve

Ford-o-phobic 10-22-2006 09:32 PM

How bout them cards, they played ok tonight i guess. The whole time i thought the cardinals would pull a little something at the end, they almost did. Im amazed that Rogers didnt throwout his arm in that weather. Lets see them pull it together.

EDIT: Woohoo 100 posts *****en!

Schumi 10-22-2006 10:26 PM

Who else was reading obsceneties from Roger's mouth every other time something didn't go his way tonight at the game...

Speaking of your neighbor looking for a Ford GT Steve, I think there might be one up around your area, I saw a bright red GT with the white stripes down the center roaming around the 40/270 interchange about 6 months ago. I was driving back from the Olive/70 area. After seeing the GT I kept south on 270 and hit 55 south, and when I got to the festus area I saw a Bright yellow GT sitting outside Surdyke Harley Davison.

Two Ford GT's in one day... Not a big fan of the company but there is no denying that car.

Razorback1980 10-22-2006 10:47 PM

Ghetto...LOL....with cars, trucks and trailers like that. One could only hope to live in a ghetto like that. Me, I can't even afford to pay attention, so you can only guess the neighborhood I live in. Is this the guy that works on Porsches? I think I want to do what he does for a living....I bet he doesn't have horses...Those things will really put you in the ghetto. Mine costs about 1200 dollars a month. I could drive a Ferrari for less that what Candace's horse costs.

Is his truck a Ford? I know you can get a Cummins in a Ford, but I've never seen one. No diesel in mine...I have the same engine those Vipers have...a V10. For a heavy truck, it has good acceleration...but the gas bill really sucks. About 10/13...until I put the trailer on it...8/10. I'll post some pictures of my trucks tomorrow so you can see his has a lot more tricks than mine has. I've got to wash them first.

shikzachaser 10-23-2006 02:20 AM

Schumi:

The red / white one belongs to a good friend of mine. He sold his business a couple years ago and did extremely well. He also has a 67 Corvette Conv., a 69 Skylark conv., a Dinan M6 developing over 400 RWHP, a 540i beater, and a Formula Ford he races. Some guys have all the toys. He doesn't have a 944 or a wife though which could account for the extra cash.

Tom:

The truck is a Ford F350 that has more bling than any I have seen. You too could have toys like that if you were 40 and still lived w/ your parents.

Hey 10-13 MPG is not bad. I get around 13 in my 318 Durango. I love the truck, the mileage is ridiculous. I waited until gas hit $2 a gallon and then bought it from a guy who could not afford the commute. It's a 2000 I bought in 04 w/ 35,000 miles for $12,000. I am definately not a Chrysler fan but I have to admit I really like it. The third seat has come in handy a few times for running up to Mizzou games. You can actually get 6 adults in there comfortably.

Kenny Rogers is a punk!! I think that stuff on his hand was a residual from jerking off looking at himself in the mirror before the game. At least he didn't attack a reporter or something last night. I fell asleep in the 6th so I did not see the last of the game. I had to get up @ 4:00 this morning to finish a couple drawings. I am definately a morning person.

Steve

shikzachaser 10-23-2006 06:16 AM

I have done the unthinkable

I got an offer for $500each for my 4 series tickets. Let me think a minute.........gone. That's $2000 towards the Speedforce Supercharger. I will be forced to watch it on a 50" Plasma in the Kitchen:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161612694.jpg

a 27" LCD from the Hot Tub (view from the tub)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161612909.jpg

or on a 110" diagonal front projection system in the Theater. The flash really kills this picture.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161612965.jpg

Do I get any sympathy fom anyone?

Steve

pozican 10-23-2006 07:42 AM

mmmm 2k closer to supercharged fury :)

Eldorado 10-23-2006 11:06 AM

why someone would pay 2grand for baseball tickets is beyond me.. i wouldn't even pay that when the jays were in the series...

sympathy? no.. boot in the arse, yes..
does your wife like baseball? buy yourself a bottle of champagne and spend an evening in the hot tub! strawberries optional.

bleucamaro 10-23-2006 11:10 AM

What projector are you using, and who plays bass?

shikzachaser 10-23-2006 12:24 PM

The one I am using now is an Epson HT550. I am an Epson dealer and for the money they are an extremely reliable product. They exibit very little pixelation and are fairly bright @ 1500 ANSI lumens. I sell them like popcorn.

I play bass, have for over 40 years. It is my first love hobby, much more so than the cars. I still have my first old (1938) Kay 3/4 upright that I learned on. Over the years I have accumulated a lot more. I mainly play a BSX Allegro EUB that Dino Fiumara made for me or a 67 p-bass I got new for Christmas from my dad. For amps it's either an old Ampeg Portaflex or my Phil Jones rig. I also occasionally use an Ampeg SVT100T that Michael Anthony gave me. The Phil Jones stuff is amazing as all he uses are 5" drivers. They are way overpriced but kind of like buying a Porsche over a Yugo as far as quality. For electric guitar it is either a 72 Telecaster or my old Ric 610-12 and my trusty 67 Deluxe Reverb. The tele and the deluxe have been all over the world w/ me over the years. They have never failed me.

Kyle:
My wife hates baseball. Now hockey is another story. She is constantly taking our tickets and going w/ one of her friends. They get all the gear on and love it. In St Louis hockey is a chick sport. I don't mean that disrespectfully to the sport, there are just a lot of chicks that go.

Steve

Eldorado 10-23-2006 01:16 PM

i'd much rather see hockey as a "chick sport" than the "business man" sport like it is here in Toronto... I'm not a Leafs fan, I'm a Habs fan... but still, i really wish the "common joe" could afford tickets to go to the games sometimes..

shikzachaser 10-23-2006 04:44 PM

The Blues are so bad that we can get split season tickets up high for $13 ea / game. We got I think 20 games / mostly weekend. Parking is another 5-10 and beer is not cheap but it's still a great time.

The Rams seats are the hot ticket here. Fortunately as part of my business I do consulting work for one of the owners real estate development companies and I negotiated killer seats in the club box as part of my compensation package. Unfortunately there are only 8 home games and they take the playoff seats away from me.

Steve

Schumi 10-23-2006 09:28 PM

Oooh, you play bass?
I have played drums for about 7 years now, all Jazz. Played with a bunch of great artists in the area.. pianist Reggie Thomas and bassist Jim Widener to name a few.

We should get together and play some jazz after I finish my next semester. I think my combo kit will fit in the Porsche.... :-)

Eldorado 10-23-2006 09:49 PM

maybe i'll come visit and bring oscar peterson down with me :D he lives not even 5 minutes from me.. we've talked at church... what a gentleman.

doubt he'd wanna take the trip though. lol but i could still dust off my sax and come down and bust out some tunes...

an international porsche jazz meet... now THERE would be a meet worth going to!

Schumi 10-24-2006 07:32 AM

I have a few of Oscar's old albums... vinyl, good condition. Never able to play them anymore. One was a great Peterson meets Basie album. I found it at a garage sale. Lady sold us all the records we could carry off for 50$ (it was a charity sale for.. cancer research I think). I split them with a friend.

...makes me want to go buy a new record player.
