Kyle:

Mine was from snoring also. I broke it a few times and while up there he decided to remove the turbinites (sounded like something from a B rated horror movie). Surgery was done under general in about 3 hours. All I remember is dreaming about getting my granddaughter a live pink and black striped zebra for Christmas and having my son upset as the pink and white turds all over the house were a drag to clean up. I should have popped for a housebroken one. I have been told recovery time is 5-6 days to resume fairly normal activity. I was really surprised this morning as there is very minimal swelling, minimal bruising, and little pain. It still starts to bleed a bit when you bend over or stand up quickliy but I have been assured that is normal and will be over soon. ALL IN ALL IT WAS NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS ANTICIPATED. Hey I can sit around over the weekend and actually watch some football, the kind where only one guy is running around before the snap on a proper sized field. That 55 yd marker always distubed me.

not a fan of the CFL, huh steve? =P

"All I remember is dreaming about getting my granddaughter a live pink and black striped zebra for Christmas and having my son upset as the pink and white turds all over the house were a drag to clean up. I should have popped for a housebroken one."

that sounds like GOOD stuff!!! man i wish i was alive in the 70's..... :D

shikzachaser 12-15-2006 06:31 AM

It's excellent, I almos hate to waste it while I am not feeling good. I don't think it would translate to very quick reflexes behind the wheel however. I was in college in the 70's and it was definately a different time. I'm surprised I was able to function in some of the classes as I was also playing in a band to make money for school doing a lot of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, cover material. My roommates also survived, my brother is a patent attorney, two are dentists, and the other one designs artificial intelligence systems.
The dental school guys were great, a lot of nitrous was around @ parties, and we were not hooking it up to our cars. For the first two years I was the only one that even had a car and that was a 71 VW van. Man I loved that thing. It's amazing our kids were'nt born w/ two heads or something.

Steve

Schumi 12-20-2006 12:33 AM

Gentlemen... took the car out today, used it as a daily driver or sorts, doing all sorts of errands here and there, even picking up my friend's little sister from her high school in it. Boy was she ecstatic. Kadie, who had been riding with me to lunch, needed to pick her up. She called her sister and told her it was a red car parked right outside the front of the school. Mind you her little sister is a freshman in high school now. School ends, she comes out looking for a red car.. what a surprise that was!

On the way home I got past civilization out one some never traveled roads that make Laguna Seca look like an oval track..

At first I held back a bit but then I just let the car do what it wanted to do.. These cars just have so much mechanical grip. My word I was blown away once again. Steve I don't know how you can sell your 944! You need to get out on some backroad twisties where that thing was meant. Your mind might be changed.

I am planning on taking the car out to Illinois for my mother's family's christmas on the 29th or some day there. That should be a fun trip. My oil leak I mentioned was solved. I don't know how, it just stopped. No drips or anything for about a week now. I think it just needed to be driven. When these things sit in the cold the seals just start to dry and shrink up.

shikzachaser 12-20-2006 03:02 AM

Mike:

I pulled it off EBAY as a guy in Florida wanted to either trade for his 83 911 or buy outright for what I wanted. After close he changed his mind and decided it was only worth $7K, I did not agree. I'm done even thinking about selling it. It runs and drives way too good, I don't know what I was thinking. I will just add on to the garage when I find what I am looking for to satisfy my go fast urge. I have driven several cars that could very easily do that, I just want to get in something and say "this is it". The closest so far has been an Audi S4. I can't afford an RS4 but the little S4 wagon is killer. Second is an M Roadster and third is a Jag XKR coupe. I like the Audi as it is totally functional, fast, AWD, and the interior is really comfortable. I drive back and forth from St Louis to Springfield, IL at least once a week and am always hauling some kind of electronics back and forth, the Avant would do it all, really, really, quickly. I have had several Audis and liked them all. We had an 83 Sport Quattro (the Group B one) and also a 5000 turbo quattro 5-speed. The 83 was really cool as there were very few brought into the states (or even made). It had 275HP w/ a variable wastegate and blew away pretty much all comers. When I bought it the thing cost more than a new 911SC and was ugly to boot. My wife hated it, I loved it, it got sold to a guy im Miami. I have no idea what he needed it for there. The 5000 was big, fast, comfortable, and got around in the snow great.

I got my minor problems sorted out an the 944 and took it out Sunday and thrashed it a bit, definately a good handling car, just slow.
I am still going to go for the SC in a year or so after I get the remainder of my refund from the previous vendor. He is at least living up to that and I have to give him credit for that. It is just a bad situation all the way around.

Don't give up on the LS1 swap, Steve!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200073614834&fromMakeT rack=true Would this thing really do anything? With all the talk here about super chargers I had to do some ebay looking lol. This seems kinda goofy to me though. Anyways I figured I would share it for a laugh or 2. Hehehe

Anaxagoras1986 02-20-2007 04:21 AM

2.2amps? LOL hahahahaha no it wouldn't do anything.

CJFusco 02-20-2007 06:19 AM

snake oil.

Dave101 02-20-2007 06:30 AM

BTW shikzachaser, Really nice job on your 944!!!! All I can say is that I love mine and it will have to be pried from my cold dead hands to get it away from me. :)

shikzachaser 02-20-2007 10:52 AM

I felt the same way until someone stuck the keys to a mint 91 C4 targa in the other hand.

Steve

Dave101 02-20-2007 10:55 AM

Well, hehehe, I would then have two cars to love! hehehe You got pics of that one? How does it handle compared to the 944?

shikzachaser 02-20-2007 01:03 PM

The new one

The C4 has much higher power and AWD and kind of pulls itself through corners (rapidly). The 944 is better balanced and is like driving something on rails.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172008908.jpg

It goes in the snow too

The wife is not real happy about her M3 being displaced.

I've also been playing w/ the lights.

600 Watts of driving lights available.

Steve

Dave101 02-20-2007 01:18 PM

Wow nice lights! i hate to ask but curiosity is killing me. Did you evr get the SC issue resolved?

Eldorado 02-20-2007 02:49 PM

I really wish i saw a blower go into that car, steve... lol
send the new chap over to the forum after he picks it up!

shikzachaser 02-20-2007 03:47 PM

I wound up getting my brother (who is also my attorney) involved along w/ local and federal authorities. I started getting a hundred avery week or so and that has dried up so it looks like I am now forced to go back and prosecute to the fullest extent possible. I am out around $3500. It really pisses me off that people scam these boards for enthusiasts.

Steve

shikzachaser 02-20-2007 03:49 PM

Hey Kyle:

You ever get the light harness going?

Steve

Eldorado 02-20-2007 05:38 PM

not yet...
my brake pedal is still detached, and I want to take it to an area to get some nice before shots before installing...

I've been driving the company van for the last 2 weeks so there hasn't been much drive to get the 944 in running shape again... however, not having the van anymore, I'll need my car.. so expect that write-up soon...

pozican 02-20-2007 05:39 PM

You are soooo close to having the SC on -- Once you get your money back, it would be silly not to!

Besides, you know you are curious to see how it would drive!

shikzachaser 02-22-2007 05:34 PM

Unfortunately in April it is going away to a good home. I have the 911 bug again and also the ML500 I picked up is a rocket. I finally can keep up w/ my wife in her BMW.

Steve

Dave101 02-22-2007 05:37 PM

Well, whomever get that car is probably gonna love it. Who are you giving it too? Or are you selling it?

shikzachaser 02-22-2007 05:45 PM

A guy in Detroit is buying it for his wife. Hers was a total loss after a guy ran a light. They are getting a killer car. I really don't want to sell it but I have too many. I still love the look of it, even better than a 911. There is just something about a 911, I have had 7 (counting having the one I just bought twice). I took the 944 out yesterday prior to covering it up and the thing is awesome, especially the stereo. I spent way too much time and money on it. I know I will probably get another one (more than likely a 968 tiptronic so my wife can drive it).

Steve

Schumi 02-23-2007 05:37 PM

Yes, the 911 is the iconic sports car but taking that picture of your 944 sitting next to the 911 in your garage, the one from the rear-

The 944 looks much more.. hmm.. hardcore..

Theres two solutions to that problem. One is to pickup a 968. The other.. You need a 930 rear deck on that 964. Or maybe a 964 Turbo rear wing, the larger one. Oh and some Turbo flares.

Hell while you're at it.. do a flachbau conversion. Best of both worlds of 968 and 964.
Pics:
http://www.flachbau.com/1994s.html

Oh yes. You'd have the only one in Missouri, that's pretty much guaranteed.

Ah.. just blowing smoke. I'd trade body parts for your 964 the way it is.

Have a good one, I'm spending my weekend at the Salem 100 Acre Wood Rally. Last year supposedly there was a guy there competing in a 911 rally car....

H&R Springs should be here Monday to drop it down an inch or so.
Look me up next time you are in arch town Mike. I agree totally that the 944 is a better looking car and I truly hate to see it go. I'll let you drive the C4 and you will understand!!! An extra 150 RWHP and AWD as hard to argue with. It really is bad ass, I knew it when I sold it the first time. I just needed money to help my son buy a house. There's times you love your kids and there's times you wish you had worn a condom, especially when it means sacrificing your Porsche. Just kidding I would do it again in a heartbeat plus he is the one that gave us a granddaughter.
BTW I am going over to Collinsville tomorrow to check out a low mileage 968 tiptronic black / tan coupe. It looks very nice from the pics. 71K miles and very clean, very original (for now).

Steve

Eldorado 02-23-2007 09:03 PM

you will be a god among men if you do for the 968 what you did for your 944. lol
I'm cheering for ya - good luck tomorrow!

Schumi 02-23-2007 09:17 PM

Did you find the 968 in Collinsville on the net or in local ads? I love the net but I still always check the locals... thats where you find the real deals.

Hell I found my 924S after a friend called me telling me there was one sitting at a gas station with a for sale sign in it. Little did I know not 4 days later I would be writing a check for it....

I will be up later this spring Steve. The car is still under it's cover, started every week to get the fluids moving and all... but I'm going to start driving it again next weekend...

shikzachaser 05-06-2007 08:18 PM

Kind of a final update and continued warning.

X3M still has not delivered the refund as promossed (after legal proceedings were implemented). I will get $100 a week for a few weeks and then he disappears again. I am out $3800 less the $1500 I have gotten back IN A YEAR AND A HALF. I saw he posted a couple feelers again for supercharger information. If any of you hear of anyone even joking about sending this guy money have them email me. I will put them in touch with several "customers" who would love to give their recomendations. I can't believe the moderators on this forum allow people like that to even participate. It definately speaks poorly for the entire community to allow trolling like this.

Steve

Dave101 05-07-2007 05:59 AM

hmmmm, maybe all the people that he ripped off should get together and park outside his house and at the same time get a news crew there to explain why all the poeple from all over the USA decided to pay him a visit. Lol

blown 944 05-07-2007 06:42 AM

I think it's too bad, it also sheds a negative light on others indirectly who have done a similiar thing ( I have recieved a few PM's asking if I was from florida :(. I am in Colorado)

Personnally, if I see anything, I'll call it out immediatly.

I am sorry this happenned to you Steve. I really would have loved to see your car in particular with a s/c on it :)

Sid

shikzachaser 05-07-2007 08:56 AM

Sid:

The SC setup was my intention all along. I spent a ton of dough in preperation for it (well over $10K). I really got frustrated when I started adding up receipts and realized what I could have. It is nobodies fault but mine, it's just a shame it did not work out. Fortunately the outlay in no way has an effect on our way of life, I just hate getting hosed. I will however proceed with the recourses I have available to me through our wonderful judicial system, to include the IRS who takes an extremely dim view of undeclared income which this represents in entirety as no product was ever delivered. I will now receive a long winded email about what a terrible vindictive person I am, maybe I am.

Steve

Eldorado 05-07-2007 09:07 AM

I love the fact that he PM's you, and takes on the role of victim, with saying YOU'RE the bad person for making this public...

X3M, "Here's your sign..."

shikzachaser 05-07-2007 10:38 AM

I probably could have never said anything, let others get hosed, and collected my (their) money. I am not wired that way.

Steve

blown 944 05-07-2007 10:40 AM

I completely understand I have followed from the beginning. Maybe take some time away and reasses the car and throw a ton of emotional $$ in there.

I have sold some meaningful cars over the years and even if you try to re- do it it never feels the same.

If ROI is your concern (I realize it isn't)then it probably wasn't a good purchase in the first place all the years you have kept that car are worth more than anything that just has more fun pedal.

Not to mention what is owed to the car for serving you all this time :).

There are very few cars I can say I would like to have back but the only one that sticks out in my mind is my 69 Camaro b/c of all the stress relief it gave me :) second to that was my little LUV pickup it was ratty as hell but was just too much fun.

I'm putting some stock into this little Mule more and more as time goes on and I think it is starting to rate right up there. Hell I may even put some work into it cosmetically and forget the swap into the newer 944.

BTW... OT but did you ever send off the MAF unit?

I think I may have some insight to the problems you were having.

Sid

shikzachaser 05-07-2007 02:01 PM

I sold my 65 GTO 421 Tri-power to buy a 71 PInto as I could not afford gas @ .33/ gallon while finishing college ouch.............
I wonder what that Pinto would be worth today......
Steve

blown 944 05-07-2007 02:09 PM

Prolly not near as much as the goat :)

shikzachaser 05-07-2007 06:14 PM

ya think! The Pinto is probably no more than a pile of rear ended ashes somewhere while the Goat is still domonating the streets.

Steve

Schumi 05-07-2007 10:17 PM

Steve,

The p-car is in Rolla here with me. I might have a day of nothingness coming up here, I might be able to come up and see you, maybe we can go cruise'n up there.

I took highway 8 to 44 to get to Rolla in the car, man was it fun. I have a guy wanting to buy my car for a good chunk of change but I can't let it go till I find myself another- I'm vowing to get an S2 or Turbo next.

I'll have to see when my schedule's open, we're prepping a formula car like crazy for season competition so things are tight, but I am vowing to go on some drives in the car while I have it out of storage.

-Mike

shikzachaser 05-11-2007 06:10 PM

Mike:

Call me, you should have my # from an earlier PM.

I just sold the 964 after a lot of thought. The 944 is actually a lot more fun!!! Definately slower but a lot more fun. A guy is picking up the 911 next Wednesday. He is getting a great car, just not as cool as the 944. I am in the market for another BMW. I drove my wife's M3 for a day this week and it is really pretty nice. I got the bug and test drove a 330Xi 6 speed and it's bad ass.

There are a couple here in St Louis w/ the performance package and they are definately nice cars. Who knows, the money from the 964 will be burning a hole in my pocket soon.

Steve

toolboy62 05-11-2007 06:31 PM

Steve,

could you call my girlfriend and talk to her? She seems to think that I have automotive ADD and perhaps you could explain to her that it's really a mild case :)

Of course, *my* habit is to buy some old "barn car," fix it up so it's driveable, and then sell it and use the money to find something prettier that "just needs a little work..."
