SIMPLE question about swapping engines.

Okay, assume a couple things first.
1. That I am not a total idiot (i know, that'll be tough)
2. that you're swapping an engine that requires another DME
3. That the donor car had a factory alarm

When you guys change engines, do you bring the factory alarm along for the change?

Hugh, I am to the point where I would GLADLY fly you out to Lincoln to help me with this. I'm at the end of my rope. SmileWavy

DME is the total engine management system. It uses an Electronic Control Unit (ECU or computer, whichever phrase you like) to run it.

Depending on what year and type of cars. The alarm on early and late 944 is in the wiring not the ECU. They alarm was pretty much the same until the "flashing door lock buttons" appeared. The earlier central locking only systems were more like the early cars.

Year of donor car, year of car that needs engine?

If it's another 944 2.5L engine then you don't need any of the DME stuff off of the donor car. If it's a 2.7L you should use the injectors, AFS, idle control valve and DME from the donor car. Best to get the DME harness too.

A four valve is another matter. As is a turbo.
