Im excited!.....
I finally found a cheap S2 engine for my car. It has like 80k miles and im getting it for 2300! Its just the longblock without the oilpan and bellhousing. I have everything else on my old engine. I should be purchasing the engine next week and it will ship UPS. It includes a 90 day warranty also which is also very nice.
Whos as excited as me? edit: Other then belts, timing chain, oil, coolant... what should i replace check on an engine sitting for a long time?

being that the oil pan is off anyway, i would check the bottom end bearings, just to be sure. also, i might consider replacing all the oil seals and the water pump.

My NA engine is okay, leaks a bit of oil though.
I am probably buying a 951 engine soon, and will probably do a rebuild on that. After that, my current engine would go up for sale.

Correct. All i need is power steering and alt/ac tensioner, the bolt and ring thing that holds the power steering pump in, weld the exhaust, new tie rod, and uhm ...i dunno.

Look on eBay. There are often wholesale overstock items available for under $20. I just bought a 1000lb brand-name engine stand (same one I saw at the local Sears) for about $40 shipped.

Since Im getting this engine and I know nothing about its history....Should I just say fudge it and replace all the rollers, belt, rod bearings, and water pump? How can I check to see if the water pump is bad/old?

Damn, engine tested out bad at the place. BUT I called up dcautomotive and theyre sending me out an engine for just 300 more with a little less miles and its not missing anything. Should have it monday.
