connecting rods
Does anyone know if there is a difference between 84 and 86 944 connecting rods, They seem to look the same so Im thinking they are the same. Anyone know??

I'm not all THAT sure, butt, I believe most, if not all the '83 models had the cast iron ones. Starting '84, I believe that they were all the cast steel rods.
Whatever your going to use, you will still need to have them machined/line bored anyway. Do note the changes in the connecting rod nuts per an earlier TSB. (you probably have these anyway). WHAT are ya up to here? A complete "rebuild" ?

Yup, I have been building it for like 2 years now LOL, Things cost alot of money ;-) But I was in the garage the other day checking out the 88 pistons I have a noticed the rods say 84 on them and the pistons/rods I removed from my engine say 87 on the connecting rod, The rods feel/look the same, Im gonna check the part numbers later, Im not to worried about the bolts, just ordered a set of raceware connecting rod nuts/bolts along with new wristpins and piston rings and some other stuff
