I'm getting really irritated with the previous owners
WHY the hell would someone buy a Porsche of all things, if they were going to be cheap asses and not keep up on maintenance? And then when they DO fix something, it's half-ass rig jobs, if I'm lucky to cross THAT much... hell, 1/2 my electrical issues are from wires being cut and left to dangle by themselves for whatever reason.
![]() ![]() What I'm thinking happened here, is the motor mounts that have been collapsed for 100k miles I'm guessing, rattle EVERYthing loose to drive me crazy!! Among this, they rattled loose the center adjuster bolt betweent he p/s and a/c-alt. adjusters. THAT's why the p/s adjuster broke when I got it. I fix that, only a week later my altenater mysteriously starts squeeling horrid upon the first 10 seconds of startup. Also probably explains why the battery would go extra-dead the week before I replaced it. Well now today I see something hanging down under there. Knowing what I'd find, I look. Sure enough, the alternator adjuster is snapped, ALONG with the one I just replaced!!! Of course, the whole setup down there is tied together in some way, and the main bolt is just demolished from swaying around in the bore for years... piss.. So does anyone have some adjusters they can get rid of?? Most appreciated if they came with the proper hardware, too. Thanks. ![]()

DaPO's make fire shoot out of my eyes. I finally took my wiring harness out of the car and am going through everything one-wire-at-a-time. Since it is going to be an autox car only, I'm probably just going to scrap most of it.
My alternator squeal was caused by not having the belt tight enough. That belt needs to be surprisingly tight or the belt will slip and squeal. You should be able to find a new motor mount pretty cheap on ebay. I'd go ahead and replace it right now. I should have weekends pretty free this summer, if you want to get together for some wrenching ![]()

You wouldn't be here except for the PO and the problems you may be having with your 944. Well most of us anyway.

^ that's probably true
![]() Bryan, I have the motor mounts, I just was hoping to wait a bit first. I need those damn adjusters though. We'll definately have to get the Lincoln duo together and get these old cruds functioning properly! ![]()

There are other reasons an engine vibrates than engine mounts. Check that the pulleys on the balance shafts are on correctly and that the belt and shafts are timed correctly.

I had the full front engine service done before I ever drove the car. I would question the settings further, but the most respected Porsche shop/mechanic in town did the job. I need to go back soon and have them re-adjust the settings for belt stretch in a few weeks anyway. I say vibration, because it is BAD. I mean, the mounts have been shot for an extremely long time, and it's like the engine is just resting on the frame. Although it could run a little bit smoother I suppose.

Have you checked out that shop on Holdrege east of the Devanny center? I drove buy and there were P-cars all over the place.

Really? That's the place they call "The Shop". The owner has a couple turbo dodges and I know one is pretty sick. I didn't know he did Porsche work. I may get in touch with him for later stuff. The front service I wanted to make sure was done right, so I went to Economy & Performance on 16th & O street. That guy is huge into Porsche's and course racing. There's a sweet late 70's 911 S2 sitting there that's light blue and has LOTS of suspension work, cage, race seats, you name it. He's pricey, but knows his stuff for sure.
