Sunroof Seal

I just replaced the sunroof seal on my '84 944 After i got it on and put it back on the car when i tried to close it, the hatch wouldnt fully go down. It did go all the way down before i replaced it. Could it be the motor, but ive heard the tourque screw on the motor is cemented down or something.
I thought that it might squish down or something over time but its been a month and it still sticks up. The good thing is that it doesnt leak water! If you wanted I could put up a picture.

First--which seal--on the car or on the roof?
second--is it the correct seal--they are different for early/late cars
if it is the correct seal, you can let it sit in the sun and really work the roof on/off--it took about 2 weeks for mine to set properly.

I've heard that this can be a problem with new seals. Someone recommend lubricating the seal with petrolium jelly.

yea its the right seal and all. its for the roof. I dont quite understand what you mean by "you can let it sit in the sun and really work the roof on/off". I got the seal on (I think) but it just wont close all the way. I am happy im not the only one with this problem.

Remove the roof, place somewhere in the sun, let it sit paint side up, and then interior side up--the sun will help soften the seal, then re-apply the roof in the car. Also helps to let the car sit in the sun with the roof removed to soften the seal on the car--keep your dash covered to prevent cracks. The sun just helps soften things so it can seat better.

you just have to exercise the seal... work with it to make it less stiff (provided it's installed correctly). Try pressing down on the roof after it's installed too...

The seal is already on the roof, it just wont close properly when i try to close it. Pushing it down doesn't do anything.
