Can this be done
Just finished replacing the head after my valve problem, and I was wondering if anyone had changed the top radiator hose socket, on a 82 n/a the one with the bleeder valve in the top of the hose with one from a later model with the bleeder in the socket. Is it just a straight swap?

I don't see why not? THe heads are the same. I just can't remember if the early has that little adapter for the housing like the late do?

Yes. Have to get the top radiator hose too.

I seem to recall having a look at the setups when I did my head and thinking I could make the mod easily, then deciding not to for some reason.
Ah, wait! Yes, it is bolt-in. I didn't do it because I'd have had to buy a different upper rad hose - one without the bleeder. Since the one I had was fine I kept it in the car, planning to do this mod when it fails and I've gotta replace it anyway. |
Thanx guys will do over the weekend.
