Porsche Crest sometimes life sucks

so i bought my 944 last summer in the middle with a number of problems for very cheap. i was still attending college and didnt have a lot of money to fix the problems with the motor untill recently. I bought a head for a company called randolph racing in my hometown who i have always heard good things about, and i am not blaming them for the problem yet but we will see when the motor gets takin apart. So i registered it friday and drove it friday night for about an hour before i had to head out somewhere, i got up saterday morning to go for a joy ride. I had to put some bulbs in and do some other small stuff to the car so that it would pass inspection. I left it running for a good half hour before i decided to take it out on the road. i pulled out of the driveway and made it about 1/8th of a mile shifted into 3rd gear and gave it some gas. I heard a noise that sounded like a static tv really loud. The car then proceeded to stall out.

So i get the car back to its parking spot and decided it diag. time. First thing i wanted to check was did the timing belt slip because of the odd noise and it almost seemed like it was out of timing. perfect timing the marks couldnt be closer. so i decided to hook up a vacuum gauge and check the vacuum to see if its got a leak and something simple like that. Cranked the motor over and with the throttle wide open got it to start. 10 - 15 in.hg. vacuum, way off of what it should be BIG vacuum leak. checked all my vacuum lines and found nothing. next came the compression test, cylinders 2,3,4 had 150 psi with the throttle body closed.

cylinder 1 however had 0 ,the gauge didnt even begin to move.

so judging by the construction of the engine i am guessing that i dropped a valve or broke a spring. so i am dropping the car off tomorrow in the morning to see what the owner of the place i got head from. kinda hope it inst the head thats a problem because i though he was really good guy and i hate to be the person who comes back *****ing but i will get what is mine if it has to come down to it

anyone else with any ideas of protential problems let me know

Dropped a valve / broken spring = noisy and REALLY obvious.

Bent valve or burnt valve are your only possibilities left.
