Hard starting after 2 weeks..what gives?
My 928 will start IMMEDIATELY after a month of sitting....but the 968 is hard to start (almost doesn't) after two weeks...battery and spark are fine...just grinds and grinds...eventually catching. Ideas?
Harvey

Check the fuel pressure.

Starter cranks fine and fast....spark is there...but apparently, as SoCal Driver mentions..the fuel must not be arriving...as needed anyway. Is there some sort of fuel check valve that serves to keep the fuel lines full of gas..but if it goes bad, the fuel line drains dry while sitting? Requiring a lot of cranking to get the fuel to the engine after sitting?
When traveling, I like to carry some key spare parts and one is a fuel pump. I was thinking of getting a new pump anyway but didn't know what other associated parts I would need to replace while in there. Then keep the old pump for a spare...however, as SoCal suggests, I need to see if this FP has pressure. Not sure how to do that but I can do a search and find out. Thanks, guys. All ideas appreciated. BTW, When I drive the car every day..no problems. on starting. Harvey

There is a check valve on the discharge side of the pump. You can also get a third party fitting for the front of the fuel rail that will accept a fuel pressure gauge or sender.
Other problems the later electronics have (944S and on) are the balasts for the injectors and the ignition module. Also a grounding problem that can fry the DME pcb at the cable connector.
