924S/944 tensioning timing belts

We have just changed the timing and balance belts on our newly aquired 87 924S and I have read the numerous posts about proper tensioning. Does anyone have the proceedure for using the old 90 deg. twist method. Where do you apply the twist? If it is the longest run on each belt do you remove the guide strip on the timing belt before testing? If I feel comfortable after tensioning with this method, I'll let er rip. If I have any doubts I'll buy a test gauge. I used the twist method with the 82 924 and never had any problems. Of course, you screw up with the 924S and you're buying another engine.....
Also, I can't read the schematic in Haynes (944 book) for the wiper motor, too small and blurry. Are schematics posted on-line anywhere? The motor will not shut off.

Thx,
Jon A.

I've been told that the electrical diagrams are on Pelican here. Because my eyes are not that good anymore, I scanned the Haynes into my computer and used the graphics programs to increase the size. I plan on at some point scanning them all and then using a plotter to print them out.

The schematics are in the "Tech Info Center" on this site. To make it easy for you, the link to the wiper schematic is http://www.pelicanparts.com/944/electrical/944_84_5_2.jpg

If the mototr won't shut off, try disconnecting the plug at the motor and cleaning/sanding the contacts. That fixed my wife's 924.

The twist is done on the long run where the guide bar is. Remove the guide bar first and the idler. There is a photo of this here somewhere. The thread was posted by ccypher.
