I got a little over my head.........

Big car show on Saturday. Problem is my car needed some serious attention and the last few weekends were spent adressing house and related issues. This basically left me with no time to super-detail the S for the big dance. I get home aound 8:30 every night. So what do I do? Turns out the car was virtually taken apart while testing out my new Porter Cable buffer. I've been working in the garage until 11:30 every night this week and there is still a ton of work to do. Took some quick pics of the mess. Maybe I got a bit in head of myself:

OH NO! Get some polishing compound and put a little water on a rag and find a small spot where it isn't real noticeable and then rub in small round circles and see if it cleans up. Then follow with some Mother's liquid wax. It'll shine like new. AFTER you find out how much work that takes, then you can try the same thing with the buffer making sure it stays wet on the polishing and take small sections at a time and stop often until you see it's cleaned up. My daughter did her pink Porsche the same way and now the paint looks pretty good...I had no idea we bought a red car! BE CAREFUL, the polishing compound will take a small layer of paint away with it, so don't do it any longer than necessary to clean up the marks. That's my favorite color Porsche, so don't mess it up! Don't sweat it too much, it should be okay. I can't find the Mother's wax we used but we tried several brands, but the Mothers worked the best in my opinion. It was the liquid kind and in a red bottle. We put the wax on with the buffer as well, but you have to change the bonnet from the polishing compound...don't use the bonnets but for one substance.

Just don't forget to start with a test area in a place that isn't real noticeable (I couldn't spell inconspicuous). The neighbor's car while he is sleeping is the first inconspicuous place that comes to mind....just kidding. Use the buffer in a small test area as well until you learn what to do. The other mistake is don't hold it in one place or you will burn the paint....that's not a good thing.

Jaime might also have a few tricks to offer...so PM him and see what he says.

LOL - I just re-read my post and perhaps it was misleading. Sorry, Razor. The pics were taken right before I started to buff the dried wax off. I still have a big mountain to climb before tomorrow morning with one night to go...............and now the girlfriend is starting to make plans for us to go out tonight(without my imput of course )

Damn Johnny. I had better get cracking or my car will look like hell next to yours.

I still need to do the interior, wash, and wax--no time for buffing!

See you at 9 am Saturday!

Just get some mesh material from home depot, paint it black, and cut it to fit across the slight gap at the front...no one will ever know

Johnny, don't do that to me. I thought you screwed up the paint with a new buffer. Glad to hear the car is okay...just a time thing.

Nice grillz lol. I like the silver a lot, looks a little goofy but still looks good. Btw i use the "gold class" or something wax, and i love it. Gives a real deep shine. Pricey though..

Finally got a chance to relax and take some time out to get back online. Well, the show went well with some last-minute heroics trying to fit the front bumper back on the morning of the car show. Took some "after" pics:

And Eric 951's flawless '86 Turbo:

I love the bumper-removed pics... when I get the 951 engine in my 944, I'm gonna have to figure something out RE: getting more air to the intercooler...
