924s Engine will fit what 944
Well as to be expected, my high school son has sideswiped a car in our neighborhood and undoubtedly totaled our 1987 924s.
The car/engine only had 77k on the clock. What 944 years will this fit with minimal effort? Beyond pulling the engines and all the regular effort? Or should I just wait for another 924s? What should I pay for salvage value to my insurance? Thanks for the help, thinking about stripping it and keeping the parts. |

I would buy it back from the insurance and strip it to the bare shell. The trans are the same as 944 also, as are most parts underneath the car.

Burn the fire.

Engine, DME, Trans, hatch glass (with spoiler?). The stereo if worth something...
The rest will be on a roller.

Why? Are you going to give me a car or buy the rolling wreck?

If you were in the CT area, I would have considered buying the rolling wreck.

Where in Colorado? My son's 87 924S needs an engine, or rather his dad does not want to rebuild his son's if possible. I am in Centennial? I will even helped remove yours or conversely you can buy his car...

What shape is the car and how much? Or how much do you think they would want to pay for the engine? |

shoot me an email (it is available from Pelican) with your phone number and lets see what our options are ...
I was speaking in the third person (I am the dad of said 924S pilot/son) as I really do not want to learn too much about these cars, aside from swapping engines as I am a 911 guy.

my 944S chassis is good and straight, clean title, and needs a home. It is missing all the front bodywork, but has most everything from the doors on back.

zotman72- Yea, the 924S's are slightly different than the 911's.
I can imagine some comedy: "Water? no.. it doesn't need water, its a Porsche! Yea we can just tear out all these hoses and that radiator, it doesn't need it! Must be P.O. addons.."

Do not get me started! I can pull a 911 engine in usually an hour or two. This 924S extraction was a nightmare, removing front suspension, steering rack, lots of chickens*** connections and how in the heck am I going to remember all those things upon re-insertion...
The car weeps three precious fluids (pw steering fluid, oil and antifreeze). The internals of the engine are goofy too. Turns out my supposed rod knock was not a rod, now what????
