Convert 924 to 924s?
Is it possible to convert a 924 into a 924s? Halfway through the inspection of my car the claims adjuster says oh! the computer just beeped we passed $3600!
I assume that Porsche made more than trivial mods to the 924 body to mount it to the 944. Or did they? While I know it would be better to save the 924s running gear for a 944, I am not opposed to going retro for philosophical reasons. Actually, I am not opposed to my 17 y/o doing it for the next year as a life lesson! Help me with info please! Thanks |
what exacty is your question?

Is it possible
My 924s is going to be totaled by insurance.
Is it posible to put a 924 body on my 924s (944) drivetrain? Or is it too much trouble? |
Very big job. To start, the motor mount configuration is entirely different from the 924 to the S. The S mounts to the crossmember, the 924 mounts to the body. You could do the swap starting with a 931, as it's similar to the early 944 in many respects - suspension and brakes being big ones. It's a doable conversion but time, labor and money-intensive (can you weld?).
Go and have a look at www.924board.com and search this topic there. You may find more info. Pelican is great for 944 stuff. HTH and good luck. |
Shouldn't be that bad, but having now driven the later cars - I'd say take the total and go buy a complete 924S!! They drive so much better - and it's not like a 2L car is rare or anything...
