A/C Clutch check?

I've been blowing the fuse #29 7.5A for the a/c. I've tracked the problem to the a/c clutch. It looks to be pulling about 12amps (by putting a amp meter in the fuse). I disconnect the clutch coil at the compressor and I get .63 amps so I know it's not the a/c controller. Placing the amp meter in between the coil at the connector gets me a quick spike to 12 amps before the 7.5A fuse burns. I've taken a reading and getting between 2.5 and 3.5 ohms. Using this I calculate (V=I*R using 13 volts) of 3.7A and 5.2A not enought to blow the fuse. Can I get someone to check the resistance on their coil?

Thanks
