Tire Gurus

I had 15" 225/50 tires on my na and want to my 16" wheels to be almost the same size in height but actually a 1/2" shorter. The 16" Fuchs have 205/55 on them now but too tall for my application. What size tire do I need to be 1/2 shorter than my previous 225/50/15 using 16" wheels

First, pick what width you want. 205? 225? Something else?

I'd go to Tire Rack's website. They offer all the specs you need. Just look at the different diameters for diferent sized tires.

You will want to decide what tire you want. Different manufacturers have different dimensions for the same listed sizes. For instance, a Hoosier 225 will be wider than anybody elses 225. So pick the tire, and look at the specs.

If you are running 16x7 and 16x8 sizes.. i would go with

225/50/16 front
245/45/16 rear

This will bring you pretty close to the look of 225/50/15 tires.. aswell as give you more rubber down on the ground for traction. The only downside being cost of tires going up.
