Switch 944 NA Wire harness with 951?

Alright so here is the age old topic that has been asked MANY times before. I am going to supercharge my 1985.5 NA (roll eyes here). However, this is not a stock 1985.5 NA it has a total race suspension, exhaust, cage, racing harnesses, stripped interior, custom paint, fiberglass bumper...hood, plexi glass hatch, totally rebuild head with new cam, springs, aluminum flywheel etc. Thus this car is worth a pretty penny
So here is the plan: I am going to lower the compression on the engine using 951 racing pistons and conrods. Then I am going to install a supercharger and run 18-20 psi. The problem is that the stock NA DME and fuel system is not meant for boost. I was thinking of upgrading the full system with a high pressure fuel regulator, bigger pump, and larger injectors. However, what do I do about the DME? Is it possible to buy turbo computers and a turbo wiring harness? I guess what it comes down to is what is the difference between the NA harness and the turbo harness other then the two computers?

P.S. Please don't tell me to just go buy a 951, that is not going to happen.

You would have to ask around about custom chips to match your setup. A stock Turbo DME/KLR wont work, since turbos have a different boost curve and thus fueling will be wrong for a supercharger and timing might be iffy.

The other option is a standalone, but thats up to you.

Sounds like a centrifigal supercharger...?

And a 951 harness could be used. You would also have to switch to some 951 bits, like the TPS an Idle Valve if its different between Turbo and NA, then switch to the Turbo AFM if youre using the stock computers and add a knock sensor (should be a hole on the block for it).

Also, I think NA and Turbos MIGHT use different starter gears. Turbos have 132 teeth, if NAs have the same number youre ok.

As edge mentioned........ you could use the 951 harness.... but for the trouble forget it.

.... you are much better off with standalone and your own custom harness.

Just curious, what cam are you running now? Have you dyno'ed your car with your current setup?

The only problem with stand alone is that they run $2500+ which is a bit much considering all the other things I am going to be doing. Of course if anyone one knows of a cheaper stand alone system please let me know!

Currently I am running a Web Cam in my car. Its certainly much faster then stock, but I would be surprised if it has 150 hp at the wheels. Thus far I have not been to a dyno

I think I would go with a peggie back Fuel Controller or stand alone.
Hope you also went with Turbo Exhaust valves or stock might get a little crisp. Did you also adjust the Intake porting/valve size? 18 PSI is alot of boost. Do share what you find. Would love to here of everthing you modified or changed and specifics.

That’s a good point! I have turbo valve springs installed, but I did not change the valves. This is something I will certainly look into. Thanks for the input
