another sunroof thread w/ questions
the short story...
retract the arms to take the sun roof off, (ign in spot 1), start the car and drive away the Arms lift to the "locked" position. thence making it impossible to put the roof back on?! on another note, not sure if its related, when the ignition is in spot 1, sometimes the arms refuse to retract all the way. thoughts?

Sounds like the car thinks the roof is in when you drive away, so I'd start at the micro switch roughtly in between the front sun-visors.
The second issue could be two things I can think of - motor's slip clutch is too loose or a cam micro switch needs adjustment.

okay thanks, i understand you can take the microswitch wire thats in between the visors and just wire the leads together so its "closed" all the time.
i'll have to take a look at the cam for the other switch for starters, i just took one of the new gears out that i replaced it stripped so i double checked the alighment this time, and i'll have to look at those other two issues. thanks

Yeah, definitely set the slip clutch to save your gears. On the cam switches, they are supposed to just slide forward and reverse for adjustment, but while adjusting mine I accidently rotated them a bit (there's a little slop in the slots). That caused one of the switches to fail to engage the cam, causing some confusing behaviour - I think it failed to retract the arms, but I don't exactly remember.
