Now, don't you ever ask the "how do I turbo my N/A" question again!! You know the answer. |

Now THAT would be a gutless engine.

beautiful car CJ, i prefer that colour to guards red any day ( not that guards red cars aren't nice!).
good luck with it! May the force(fed) be with you! |

One thing I would really recommend is a combo vacuum/boost guage. I pull between 19 and 20 inches of vacuum at warm idle (17-18 inches at cold start-up) with fresh vacuum lines (thanks Gerber!). |
Well, it's weak, but it's not unbearable. I mean, I suppose it feels like a "normal" car under 3K... the contrast between off-boost and on-boost is pretty drastic.

I still recommend finding a way to plumb in a vacuum/boost guage, it's handy for troubleshooting and a mechanical guage is much more useful than the guage that's mounted in the tach. Mine is mounted just below the radio. http://pics.zenmervolt.com/951/P6270281_Custom |
I looked at your dyno charts on that site; pretty impressive. What mods are you running?
Also, how difficult is it to install a boost guage? |
|
very nice!

Mods done: Guru chips Guru "Accuboost" (similar to the LBE) 3.0 Bar fuel pressure regulator K26/8 turbo (same as used in the 944 Turbo S models) set to 16 PSI when those numbers were posted, currently 14 PSI I'm thinking that I will try next replacing the Guru with Vitesse chips, as that has solved the high-RPM lean-out for many. I have a spare set of Autothority chips too that I need to get around to testing at some point. I also had the european driving lights installed and use H4 headlights, but that's because I like being able to see at night. Interestingly enough, I get more light from 55/60 H4 bulbs than from the 80/100 bulbs that the PO was using because the voltage drop was so large from the draw of the 80/100 bulbs that they were only getting about 10 volts instead of 13.2. As for installing the guage, not too hard, there are plenty of places where you can piggyback a vacuum line, then you just run it through a convenient hole in the firewall and route it under the dash to the guage. There are places all over that sell mounting pods and guages for the 944. For lighting, just piggyback off of the radio's power line. It won't hurt the guage to be lit all the time. |
Well, I spent a little time tonight giving friends from work a few rides in the 951 (we've had very mild "winter" weather so far...).
The Porsche 951 is simply ridiculous. I still can't believe the accelleration, the stability at speed, the confident cornering. It's just fantastic. Until I drive a new-ish Porsche, the 951 will almost certainly be the best car I've ever driven. |
...."If I was to make an analogy, the 944 is to a MG as the 951 is to, well, a 928..."
What? A 928? You must mean a Miata! H2 Owner of two 928s and one 968 (but lusting a good 951) |

BTW, most of the pics you posted didn't work. Might want to try editing the HTML... |
i agree with the miata comment!
i can't tell much of a difference between the 944 and the 951 in terms of comfort and smooth-grand-touritude... except that in the 951 my head occasionally touches the headrest :) |
I'm still not sure what is meant by "the miata comment"...
