i lost my love

Well my baby is gone. I was just about to get all the pieces on my car fixed, especially my door. Yesterday i was on my way to work, sitting at a redlight when some stupid 17 year old swerved his car into mine and crunched my fender busted my tire, and axle. He said the turn came up to fast and he didnt know where he was or where he was going, that he wasnt used to that area. The dude had a parking decal from a high school 30 secs away. He knows his way around. He wanted to pay me off but he had no money. Luckilly he has state farm so their apparently taking care of everything. They will be sending someone out to look at it but i know its totalled. It was basically totalled when my sis backed into my door but the car was still driveable. O yeah, i also had to wait 2 hrs for the tow truck to arrive, and then watch him almost rip off my front bumper trying to tie it down. I lost my love.

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I know how heart breaking it is to see your crunched up P-car loaded up and hauled away. All I can say, is at least you weren't hurt! Maybe you will find a new P-car to ease the pain...

Good luck,
Nick

I'm sorry for you accident and loss. Kids are just that. It's why their rates are insane. I'm curious what the stupid insurance companies would pay. Don't take the first low offer. I heard you can haggle with them to get more funds for your next car.

I almost lost my baby when she was hit by some pot smoking punks in a Mazda POS that broadsided me at about 30-40MPH. It spun me around, wrenched my back, totalled the whole front right suspension assembly, etc. It was a disaster. It's almost like losing a loved relative... Best wishes and good luck! I am still fixing my baby- almost 2 years later! The worst part is that I was 'at fault' because I can't prove that thier lights were off......

Not always kids that are the ones causing the problems. I am only 19 and I haven't been in a single accident that was my fault.

22 year old took out my '85. I know the feeling. His insurance took care of me though. I had paid $4,000 for my '85, they valued it at $4,200.

When I got my replacement, I wasn't super happy with it, but have come to like it. Still lacks the sport suspension of my '85, but is offset by LSD tranny allowing me to plant a bit more throttle in a corner. I just outlayed $1,500 on my '86 today. Timing belt, water pump, and new rear rotors/pads. In total, I've spent $2,000 on 944 maintenance since summer two years ago. This year is I think going to include a bit of suspension rework, so I might exceed my $1,000 a year. I also may be getting a 2nd 944 next week.

Make you to tell the adjuster of any upgrades or aftermarket equipment. Provide copies of receipts if possible.

I bought my 944S back after it was totalled (it never left my driveway) for $500. I was given $2500 more than I paid for it (though it was still less than I put into it). I thought the initial offer I was given was very fair. In reality, it all depends on the claim rep you happen to get.

Yes you can. The elements of the light bulbs will distort on a severe impact when they are on. Most cops know this as well as any designated traffic investigator.

Yes, sorry to hear about your loss.

But I don't think we should sterotype all kids as poor drivers.
Old drivers might be the worse in fact or ones talking on cell phones while doing their makeup

The best defense is always driving VERY defensively...

I know about that but they wouldn't do the test dispite my request. They also didn't search the stoners damn POS car either. The guys were obviously stoned- if the pot smoke in the car wasn't a clue, the blood shot eyes and such should have been. I hate Cranston, RI more than you know.....

My sympathies. Having just gone through the excat tsame thing you did also with State Farm. Do yourself a favor and look up the same model, year and simalar milage within 100miles of your zip. I had to go thru this BS when trying to convince them my car was worth more. You have to find a dealer that will list it for more money than what your asking for. Dont do unless you feel their ripping you off. In my case I got another $1000 by proving the value that a dealer had it listed for. Good luck.

This thing has been a nightmare. I went to get a rental car and ended up not getting one because i did not have collision on my insurance and i needed it for the rental. I had to fax state farm 5 times for 2 days before they got the info they needed just so i could rent my car. Then i waited a week for them to inform me that my 83 944 is worth $5000 and the damage was only about $1000. They obviously have no clue what they are doing. All they did was go to nada.com and type in a 83 944 and got a generic result. When you try to find out how much a car is worth, even just using the blue book value you have many variables...the mileage, if the car has a/c, what type of seats does it have, sunroof, p/s...etc. They did none of this. I paid $3000 for my car 2 years ago and it has definitely depreciated at least a little...not gained a good $2000 in value. They just don't want to total my car. And what sucks even more is that even if they fix my front fender, and wheel, and axle, and who knows what else is messed up, my door is still crunched in from when my sis hit it. I just wish everything could be done at once or i could sell this car and get out of this giant mess. State farm didnt reccomend any body shop to me and know i have to tow my car somewhere and get it fixed.

I would have a shop really look at the car and give an estimate on its repair. $1000 in repairs as state farm is stating seems very very low. Even if the fender can be repaired and not repalced it will still eat up most of the $1000. If there are any other repairs, wheel, tierod, hood, front end you will be well over the $1000

Im also going throught this stupid insurance mess. Why do guys with Porsches always get screwed even when it's not their fault? I guess people are just scared to see how much money a 20 year old Porsche is to fix. If I was you I'd be happy to get $5,000 for your car. My 924s is just hit in the front fender, bumper, and valence(see pics in "my baby=wrecked), and they just said today that it is totaled and worth a mesly $3,000. Oh yeah the 924s is all original with 69,000 miles, a new clutch, belts, 944 turbo bar up front, and I just got done putting on a factory rear sway bar setup on it a day before the accident! It sucks that this had to happen to you too and I feel your pain!
