My car just died while driving

Just got back from my mechanic, new belts, plugs, plug wires & had the alternator checked
Have driven it the past couple of days with no issues until this afternoon.
Here's how it went down...
Driving along running 65 mph start up an incline, give it some gas & it starts bucking. Back off the gas & it returns to normal.
A couple of miles down the road same thing except the tachometer stops functioning & then it dies.

Any ideas?

TIA!

BTW: It's an 82 924

Try a new fuel pump relay (you should keep a spare in the glove box anyhow).

This might sound stupid, but check to make sure that the ignition coil wire didn't come unplugged. It's happened to me.

Thanks for the suggestions.
First thing I checked was the ignition coil wire, I'll try the relay this afternoon.

Some additional info...
Was unable to restart as the engine wouldn't even turn over, like the battery was dead. So, I jumped it off using the Honda, but it only ran 2-3 mins before dying again.

Is your charging system working?

What was the voltage at the battery. Should be high 13's to very low 14's VDC.

Don't know where the amps come from.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Check volts at your battery...if it started with a jump, the battery has to be dead. If the battery is dead, the car will not run long if it even runs at all. I would say your alternator is toast again or the wiring from the alternator to the starter solenoid and back to the battery has some problems..or possible bad grounds.

15 volts will kill the battery. About 14.4 is as high as it should be charging.

New alternator installed, turns over fine but won't run for more than a few seconds.

Bad coil?

Don't forget to find out why the alternator burned out already. Got a gremlin to chase!

Check your fuel pump to make sure it's running. Sounds like the engine is running out of gas or you have a huge short circuit somewhere taking all the power which would explain the alternator failure. Does the battery go dead overnight?

Seems to be the later of the two, but the battery does not go dead overnight.

I did a bit of searching last night & I'm also going to check to see if the timing belt slipped.

She's running, but I'm not certain for how long or that it's because of anything I've done.

As suggested, fuel relay replaced, fuel pump works & at least for now I have spark.
Ignition switch short???

I did however find two loose fuel injectors, how big of a pain is it to replace & should I do all four at the same time?

With only 13 days till the Dragon meet, I'm about to pull my hair out!!!

Have you tried asking at www.924.org? Not that some here may have an answer but there is definately more traffic there for the early 924's.

The number two is, I saw blow back from it this afternoon when a friend switched the ignition off. So, until I manage that issue the short is the least of my worries.
