Chip installation

I did a search of the Forum, but the answer I was looking for wasn't clear.

I am looking at purchasing an FR Wilk chip for my 1987 924S. Is installation of this chip a "snap out, snap in" procedure, or am I looking at desoldering/soldering of the chip? Thanks!

Which chip are you planning on installing? Single program or multiple??

I Chipped a friends '86 944S about 3 months ago with a frwilks chip, it was indeed a "pull stock, install new".

Good luck,
-Nick

if the 924S uses the early 944 DME, then you'll have to cut out 4 chips and solder in 1 new one.

I haven't changed the chip in my 87 924S but I have had the DME apart to look at and adjust the FQS, it is a single pull out/put in type of chip.
