Wipers and headlights
I recently moved to Germany and figured the proper thing to do was to purchase a 1987 944, however it appears to have a couple of issues. First, the intermittent wipers don't work, unless the headlights are switched on, in which case the wipers won't stop working. Anyone heard of anything like this before? I assumed the headlights and wipers were totally autonomous systems. Also, the threaded plastic fitting that attaches the small expansion tank hose to the radiator is broken off in the radiator. The best bolt extractors the master race have over here won't budge it. Any ideas on extracting a plastic bolt from a plastic radiator?

They do share the same switch on the steering column...maybe someone hooked it up incorrectly. I'm not sure where else they would be connected either.

the fitting for the expansion tank can be tuff to get to in the car.
it's not all that tight and probably corroded some. there's also a knob next to the a/c switch that controls the speed of the intermittent wipe.

No autonomous is very much English meaning separate or different systems. He was trying to say that the wipers have no common parts with the headlights.
