I need some help w/ my granddaughter's new Porsche

My son salvaged this car from destruction today and showed up @ our house with it to begin the restoration process. I gave my Granddaughter the option of it being a Fiat or a Porsche as I had both hood emblems. She made the right decision. The help I need is that we need to get some racing type stickers, MOMO, Goodyear, whatever to apply to it. Anybody got anything?

Take your pick $1 each

Got doubles of the Hella, VDO, Total Seal, and Venolia in case you want symmetry. To give you an idea on sizes the Hella decals are about 8"X6".

Did you get your console bezel?

shikzachaser 11-12-2006 05:35 PM

Bezel has not arrived, it will probably be here Monday. I'll be sure to paypal the postage. Plesase send me the paypal address. Any sticker would be cool, just pick a couple and add it to the tab for the bezel and I'll send it to you. She and I are going to "restore" it. Guess I should start by replacing the timing belt.

I've got a couple spare Pelican stickers kickin' around here somewhere...

shikzachaser 11-12-2006 05:46 PM

Cool, she can be the poster child for Pelican. I know before it's over I'll be putting a weed eater motor on it, N/A I gotta stay away from the blowers. You want my address?

Just checked your tracking info Steve, it was supposed to be delivered on the 10th but they did an address correction? and it will be there tomorrow.

I'll pop a couple in the mail for ya. I bought them for my race car but she'll use that sweet machine of hers long before my project will ever hit the track.

Eldorado 11-12-2006 06:59 PM

sure steve, PM the address...

shikzachaser 11-12-2006 07:12 PM

I have a couple of Pelican and EBS racing stickers...they will be sent tomorrow. I have many many others but I'll have to dig through the boxes from the shop to find them. I'll send these out and when I find the others, I'll send them along.

Thanks Tom. Morgan is really excited to be working on the car with me. I'm sure you can relate. You ever get noise out of the stereo?

If you really care about her, nothing says "I Love You" like a Sparco seat and a 6-point harness! And oh yeah, now you need center caps for the yellow Fuchs to go with the nose moniker!

Razorback1980 11-13-2006 11:25 AM

Hey Steve...no noise yet. Candace has been waiting on me and I am ashamed that I haven't had time to help her. After we sold the racing shop, we have been moving all the stuff out of it and it's amazing what you accumulate over 20 years. It's a good thing AJ wanted some of the equipment, I have no idea where we would have put it all. That's all complete as of the weekend, so now I have a garage full of boxes I'm going to have to work around but it's now time to get started back on the Porsche. Candace is out of school during Thanksgiving week, so I'll probably make some pretty good dents in the project then.

before you apply the stickers you should go over the car with a torch to soften up the PE. The scratches will just disappear and you will get a like new finish. (experiment on the bottom of the car first until you get the hang of it) Don't burn through the plastic.

You want to lightly brush it with the flame.

Tom:

I got your cup packed and ready to go out. There is also something in there you may or may not want to take to your next Astro's game.

Speedy:

Thanks for the tip on torching the car. I went over it and it worked great.
I would never have thought of doing that.

Makes you wonder....just what kind of cars has Speedy been working on? Did that fix the cracked dash on your 44? :) Nice tip!

shikzachaser 11-14-2006 03:38 AM

I had to break down and buy a new dash cover for tbe 944. i know I would have caught the car on fire.

I am the master body man technician at the Little Tykes collision repair facility. I get to see all the Barbie cars which have been run over by daddy's SUV or bigger brothers monster truck pedal car. Boy could I tell you the stories of what I have seen.
