Anyone have a Foha or factory front spoiler lip on there 944?
I posted this on Rennlist also, but know there is a different crowd that frequent here also..
Ive been looking around for one of these for over a year now and finally managed to pick one up on eBay tonight. Its a front spoiler / splitter (Whatever you want to call it) for the n/a 944 front valance. Ive seen ONE car on eBay that had it about a year ago and have yet to ever see pictures of it on a car let alone one in person. From what i read, its made out of the same material that the rear spoiler is made out of. Porsche offered it as optional 'techiquipment' back in the 80's and apparently Foha made them also. I had trouble finding info about Foha, but they made alot of parts for the 80's BMWs, VWs and apparently a few body kits for MX-6 Mazda's. They also made a cool wrap around spoiler for the spoiler-less 924's. The Foha and 'Techiquipment' ones look exactly alike, i would guess they are just branded differently. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...4/frontlip.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...20944/8f_1.jpg Was just curious if anyone had one of these on there cars or has had one and can comment on how its installed. The tech-quipment catalog says it dosent require any drilling. The seller told me the Foha one has 9 studs sticking up through the top along with a few brackets. Ill know for sure when i see it. Ill probably have to buy a new front valance... though mine is fairly straight, its far from perfect. |
Kevin, im talking about the one on the top left.
The one on the lower right is the factory turbo rear valance.. i have one also :). Thanks though! |
just noticed you didnt create that first set of photos yourself, that the rear spoiler just happend to be photographed, oops.
|
Yep.. the picture is actually part of a page from the 944 teqiquipment offered by Porsche back in the 80's. I only have it in PDF form, couldunt figure out how to get the entire thing in .jpg format so i had to cut the bottom off.
There is another cool part that was offered, its a lexan tinted insert for the rear hatch. It fits the shape of the hatch so you dont have to tint the glass. I think one guy has one on Rennlist..and i have never seen one for sale. |
I would like to see pictures when you get it on if you don't mind.
|
hmm I don't think I've EVER seen even a REFERENCE to one of the front spoiler lips.
|
CJ, i never even knew this part existed until someone scanned the catalog in .pdf and posted it on Rennlist a year or so ago.
Then maybe 4-5 months after i saw the catalog page, i saw an eBay car that had the lip also. I was tempted to ask the seller to just sell me the lip! I wish i saved the pictures of it because my memory of what it actually looked like its foggy at best. From what i remember it looked pretty sweet...but things remembered often seem that way! |
Wow, I spent some time looking online a few weeks ago thinking a front splitter woud look really nice on a 944 but I could find anything other than one car on ebay that had a custom made one that looked horrible. I'm really excited to see how that looks on your car and I'd love to find another one.

I emailed a fellow in Canada that had one of these on his car (he sold the car last year) and said he would email me pictures tonight when he gets home. I think this will be the perfect finishing touch with the 951 side skirts i have.

Here are some pictures of it on the Canadian PCA members former car..

man, minus the wheels.. that's a clone of my car.. i wish my paint looked as good... *rolls eyes*
|
I just love how clean and subtle it looks.
|
Yeah, I think it's a pretty good look.

Got the FOHA lip in the mail today. Thank gosh he sent it DHL... if it was UPS it would probably still be on the other end of the country.
This thing is pretty cool though.. still in its original factory packaging. I felt like i was opening a piece of Porsche 944 history.. :). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3691.jpg It feels like its made out of the same material that the bumper pads are made out of. A pretty heavy duty rubber. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3696.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3698.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3699.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3695.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...p/IMG_3694.jpg Going to try and mount it either tomorrow or sunday. |
its...its so new... :) nice find jon, lets see some pictures with before and after shots when you get it on.
|
I wish I knew something like this existed when I had my NA...
|
Wow, that's awesome...Nice find!!!
|
Now if somebody only made something like that for my 924S. That would be sweet. It seems that there are plenty of goodies like that for 944's but not the lowly 924. Did everybody forget or is it a red-headed stepchild. Brady Bunch reference: 944, 944, 944, why does it always have to be about 944?
|
Actually there is a front spoiler that is of similar material i have seen on a few 924S's. PerformanceProducts used to carry it 3-4 years ago but i havent seen it in a long time in the catalog.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...k/Spoiler2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../phpARBHAf.jpg There was also some option bodywork available from Porsche, but only in Europe i believe. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...k/924Sbody.jpg |
CHIN UP !
SHOULDERS BACK ! ARCH YOUR BACK ! FEET HIP WIDTH APART ! ...I stand corrected... I like the air dam on the red car. Anybody have any ideas on where I should start surfing to find one? |
