What's the best "Tool" kit someone can buy for this procedure? Any links anyone can share? There's a ton of options that pop up when I google, "Coolant bleeding kit".

I usually just elevate the front of the car for the initial fill (cool engine not running)...and leave the top bleeder screw a bit loose then tighten when coolant starts to come out. From then its just a matter of having a 12mm wrench in the car with me, so as I make stops I can pop the hood and bleed the hot engine as needed. Usually only takes two or three of these "bleeds" to get it done. Easy-peasy.

or use one of these?

Search Amazon for "Coolant Vacuum Refill Kit". Once you use one of these you will never refill a coolant system any other way again. No messing with burping the system. No bleed screws. Just suck the coolant in with vacuum and put the cap on. Perfect fill every time.
I have the Uview Airlift kit, use it to drain and refill the coolant in the racecar before every race. A quick search on amazon comes up with the link below... even looks like Harbor Freight has a version now. https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMTL-Cool-PR-Coolant-Vacuum-Refill/dp/B08X7G821X/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=coolant+vacuum+refill+kit&qid= 1684154822&sprefix=coolant+vac%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-5 |
I suppose I should/will look it up on youtube, but how does this work exactly?

^^ Marius - that thing has rubber collars to seal where the radiator cap would normally go and it pulls vacuum from there.
works great on vehicles where the rad cap is the high point - but a 944 doesn't entirely work like that. bleeding a 944 is easy - front end up, heater open, rad cap off, bleeder valve open. fill with coolant until the tank is full, massaging the hoses as you go. close the bleeder valve. start the engine and let it run. keep topping off the expansion tank as it gets pulled down. once the engine starts to heat up crack the bleeder again - there will be a spurt of air/water and then a steady stream - have a towel ready to catch it. close the valve, shut off the engine, lower the car, let it cool, then top off the tank and go |
