This is embarrassing..

I'm embarrassed to be posting another problem here so soon!! AGH!!

FINALLY managed to get the parts I needed to finish off the car...mind you I had to bike 2 hrs both ways but...this is truly a labor of love.

Anyways, the starter (the 2 month old starter!!) seems to have crapped out.

Turn the key, always getting a humming with an occasionally click beforehand. I've cleaned the engine grounds and the contacts on the starter but the problem persists.
With the multimeter I can find ~12.5 volts at all the posts with the key in the ON position.

For the life of me I can't remember how I fixed this last time!

I've got the starter out of the car right now and I can jump the solenoid into action but I cant figure out the right combination of posts to get the gear to spin lol

I feel like such a newbie right now..................

+ has to go to the big post on the starter, - to the body of the starter (use a set of jumper cables).
Then + to the solenoid.
Hold it firmly, there is a lot of torque, it's gonna want to roll off the workbench.

Hope this helps.

My car won't start either. My mechanic is looking at it. Quite annoying.

About 9/10 times the car starts fine. But every now and then the car just won't turn over; battery and power, fuel etc are fine. The starter just won't kick on. Then magically, after anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes later, it'll start up fine. It got worse tonight though. I had to pop start it four times today. I had to ask for assistance twice from strangers at my school.

Now THAT is embarrassing: having a nice car that has to be pushed to start!
