Finished assembling my MegaSquirt II computer

Well it is 2:00 am and I just got done with my Mega Squirt II computer and tested it out. Everything is functioning as it should. Now I just need to finish the rest of the car and do the wiring harness. Here is a pic of the finished product.

thats a simulator/test board to make sure everything is working. It connects to the port that the harness connects to.

Right on. I built a MegaSquirt 1.0 board a few years ago, but ended up wrecking the intended car. Are you running MegaTune on that laptop? My uncle wrote that. I'll follow your progress as I've been thinking of squirting the NA motor.

OK back from Thanksgiving in MN.
It took about 15 - 20 hours to do everything. I worked on it after work a couple hours here and there. I followed the dirrections perfectly to ensure there were no problems during the build. I purchased everything I needed from Glen's Garage. Everything came in a very timely manner and packaged perfectly. I would order again from Glen. I think the prices were a little better than the DYI place but by only a couple of dollars. 2 areas of trouble I had was downloading the software onto my computer and loading it onto the mother board for the MS. 1 of the problems was just my stupidity and lack of knowlege on how to download. The other problem was I was using a AC/DC adapter to power the Stim and it created 2 much noise. I chased this problem down with the help of the MS BBS and the last thing to try was to use a 9v battery in place of the power supply. Low and behold it worked!

I think the instructions are well layed out and the tech support is great. I didn't have much soldering experience before I took this project on but I did a good job.

If there are any more questions don't hesitate.

Speedy

The laptop pictured is the one I am using. It is empty with the exception of the MSII software. I am running it through the 9 pin plug but have thought about going blue tooth with it.

I will be starting up the project soon again as I am purchasing the needed equipment to machine the needed swap parts myself.

I will be running the Ford EDIS8 off of the 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra. It comes with a crank mounted hall sensor and 36-1 tooth trigger wheel. The hall sensor sends the signal to the Mega Squirt and then the Mega Squirt send the output to the coil packs. On the EDIS system there is 4 coils, 2 plugs per coil to run the 8 cyclinder engine. (remember this is going on my Vette LT1 V-8 conversion) For your 4 cyclinder Porsche you would want the EDIS4.

Speedy:
Nice. I was thinking of loosing the distributor and going for a more elegant solution, one that uses as much original Bosch equipment as possible. This is a project way down the road so I have time to research it. I will probably go with that coil pack or a VW type Coil on spark solution. Just the ignition, as I feel the stock injection system is pretty good when it works right.

Here is a link to the EDIS ignition

I am not sure if MS can support coil on plug yet. I know they are working on it.
