best chip for porsche 944 na

I'm wondering which chip is the best for my 1988 porsche 944 na. The car is stock. If you were to choose between autothority, weltmeister, or europroducts, which would you choose. I know that FR wilks produces a chip but I'm afraid to order from him after his business going into hiatus.

I would hold out and wait for the 944MAX chip. It seems like it's going to be comperable to Wilk's chip but the risk isn't there.

That it might not be Wilk and it could just be someone using his name. He hasn't been around much since his stuff was stolen.

my car has had an Autothority Chip in it for about five years that was installed by the PO. The stock chip is in the glove and ive never drivin around on it so i dont know what its like.

I keep the car as stock as i can, but so far i find that the autothority chip runs the car smooth, has good pull from a stop, and is strong through the power band. Im sure its nothing to write home about, but its been working well for sometime in the car...

Get the FRWilk chip or wait for the 944Max coming out.

I understand your concern about the FRWilk chip. Its a shame Mr Wilk took down all the useful info on his webpage, wish i saved it before hand. I hope everything is okay with him and hopefully he just got tired of these old Porsches.

I'm not trying to be mean about Wilk, from what I understand, his chips were good. I'm just saying that the past 6 months has been kinda shady with his random appearances and then disappearing again. That's all. I'm sure both chips from wilk and 944MAX will be very similar and much better priced than anything else on the market.

well wilk disappeared.... it was decided that all the "returns" he made were in fact not him. zman disabled his account until the real wilk surfaces.

That's actually a very good thing, keeps us from getting hosed. I miss wilk though, he always had good advice to offer and lots of knowledge to back it.

i just received Wilks board for my 1983 944. He is definitely there!!!
I had a problem removing my old chips and FR said that he would look at the problem.
Seems to be a nice guy!

I had problems removing my chips too.. after going to the hardware store and buying a pair of small wire cutters for $4, I cut all the legs... and then used a small fingernail cleaner (no small screwdrivers available at the time unfortunately) to go under the chip and pry it away from the goop.

eldorado,
i took out the chips after a pain in the a$%. i put in the board and it down't work. wilk says it is rare for this to happen but it did. meanwhile, i bought another dme for $100. and am waiting for FR to look at the board.
How much better is your car with the chip as opposed to w/o?

honestly? it's a bit more fun to drive.. slightly more giddy-up.... but you know what? for 350 bucks US or whatever it cost for the dual chip and adapter board plus shipping, on reflection i wish i put that money into suspension.. it's a good upgrade, and many people say it's the 'best bang for the buck'... but that's a slight overstatement in my opinion...

it's not a bad upgrade.. i just wish it didn't cost what it did... hindsight is 20/20.

kyle,
funny you mention suspension. i just bought a pair of bilstein rear shocks. should be in early next week.
i just wish that the wilk was working. i felt that i did everything right. i carefully took out the chips. moved the two caps and soldered in the board. i plugged it into my car and......nothing!!

did you ground yourself properly during installation?
did you work in a low-static area?
