968 Buying Advice. What to look for

Okay, im on a roll here recently in looking up cars to purchase hopefully in the near future.

With some money under my belt, im looking at all cars with an asking price of about 13k. I know this doesnt get me a perfect, m030 968, but it does get me a 968 from what i can see.

now, what to look for?
how can i tell if there has been an accident? other than respray, carfax...
how can i determine timing belt changed? other than receipt?
anything else? i know there are tons to look for, i cant find an FAQ on here right now, then again it is 3:30am...

Look for any wrinkles on panels from the inside, such as fenders or in the cubbies in the rear hatch to see about paintwork. Belts, well, there's really no way to tell except for a receipt, or you can buy without and then change immediately for piece of mind.

Pinion bearing is also something that can go in the 6spd cars, it howls and you'll know it's bad. You want to know if it's been replaced, and if so, when and by whom. Good luck!

Timing belt and cam chain tensioners are the big things, IMO.
