how to modify a 944 engine????
hello to everyone...
i have a big problem and hope that someone will give me some help..i have a 944 ,85.5, 120 kw, and want to add some more power...dont have money for a turbo engine...but im thinking for some time to bolt on a mechanical supercharger (i'm hoping to get one for chepp) .(did someone done this??have some detailes for me??) also im thinking to modify my cam (have any suggestion?? lift, degree??), a fuel pressure regulator, a msd 6a ignition system with a blast coil...bigger exhaust system..a chip(what would be the best one?? for 7000rpm) and if i will have some money left...a nitro system...so please guy's if u have any suggestions for me ..or if someone did some modification for a 944 8 valves, please write...thank u for ur time |
Sell it and buy a more powerful car. There are exactly ZERO inexpensive or even only moderately expensive ways to gain a meaningful power improvement for a 944 N/A.
Now, if you have $10,000 to $20,000 to play with, you might be able to coax 30-50 more HP from an N/A engine. To address your ideas one by one: Supercharger: No reputable factory kits available. Stock injectors would not handle fuel delivery needs. Stock compression ratio is far too high for much boost, you'd need to change out the pistons. Cam: Nope. Stock cam is very, very good, no meaningful power is available here. Fuel Pressure Regulator: Will not do a damn thing unless you make other modifications that require the engine to use mroe fuel. Ignition system: Will not do a damn thing. Exhaust: Will not do a damn thing except change the sound. The stock system is already designed with a very good header and large diameter, free-flowing tubing. Chip: Can fatten the torque curve a little, but will not give more than 5 hp/tq in total. Raising the redline to 7,000 RPM is NOT a good idea, the 8v engine does not breathe well enough at high RPM to make that worthwhile at all. Nitrous: Just say "no". If you can't afford to do the other things properly, you won't be able to afford to do this properly either. Oh, and one more thing... Hello Alina |

A different grind cam can net you anywhere from 8-17hp over stock. Noone really knows what difference it has on the power band as noone has dyno charts of a JME cam, but in talking to John Milledge it apparently is not much different from the stock power band...maybe 3-400rpms later. |
Not 15HP its actually much much more, Here this dyno plot of Alina's car should clear it all up.

What did alinas car do in the quarter mile? It had to be good... 400 horses in a 3,000 pound car. She has the car we all want! haha
|
LOL, ofcourse we want a 400 hp car that weighs 1363kg plus some gas:-p. I mean if your going to spend so much funny to upgrade the car atleast make it weigh less:-d.
|
well sorry for my bad english,im not from US or UK ...problem is that im not trying to get 1000hp from a NA...i just want to see if there is someone who got more then 10 hp (exhaust,k@n filtre,cip-i have that)..im trying to get from 163hp to 200-210 hp...or more if i can...i can't afford 400hp

My 8v was wrecked and I bought my 16v for the exact same amount. It was an upgrade of close to 40Hp for $0. I could have bought a 300HP 951 for a thousand more. Upgrading is cool just know where to spend those dollars. |
