Angry Schnell ssk issues

I bought a shcnell short shift kit a while back and tried installing it but it wont go into reverse. I cant figure out why.

It will go about half way into reverse but not enough to engage.

I left it like that and crawled under the car to see where it was hanging up and noticed that the swivel peice on the bearing is hitting on the flat peice that is used to adjust the shifter from left to right.

What could be making it do this?

I have searched on both rennlist and here and cant find anything.

Sorry but its the best pic that I am able to do until i get my camera back.

The part marked in red hits the part marked in pink when trying to go into reverse.

I have tried adjusting all the bolts and even sanded down the pink area to try and make it go into reverse.

I havent been able to try out the sanded down version yet because im waiting for my 3 new injectors to arrive to replace the 3 leaking one's that are currentley in it.

Make sure that ball rod end is secured to the long shaft with circlips or snap rings..
The ball rod end should not slide or move back and forth along the shaft.
The stock shifter rod has a plastic piece that is secured with a snap ring.

Cool

The shift lever inside the car is secure and is a brand new SFR short shifter with a new ball cup.

The bolts on the trans mounted shifter are all tightened and secure and in the holes. I got my injectors today and got to test out my sanded down version and it now works.

It was just getting caught on those two shaded areas and once they were sanded down it went right into gear.

It works now so im gonna leave it as is.

It makes a HUGE difference in the way the car drives. Its a little hard to get into gear but im hoping it'll smooth out with some drive time on it.

Remember a 20% reduction in shift throw equals 20% increase in needed force from your arm to shift.

I bought the same SSK a couple month back and there was a production problem w/mine. The guide pin hole in the side of the shaft was not drilled in the right place which caused my car to be unable to shift into 1st or 2nd. Make sure the pin set is the same as on the stock one. It should be perpindicular to the end piece. The one I got was on about a 30 degree angle and could not be adjusted properly no matter what I did. It took a while to realize what was wrong until I compared it to the OE one. Eagle exchanged mine immediately and the new one works great. I actually installed it with the SSK from Speedforce that lowers the shifter and uses a MOMO knob. It's unbelievable. Literally the throw is maybe 3 inches and I can shift w/o taking my arm off the console pad. The combination of the two almost feels like a gated shifter, very tight.
It was well worth it. Good luck with it, you will like it when it is installed. If you get one for the shifter make sure you are careful w/ the plastic bushing at the bottom, they get brittle w/ age, mine shatterd and when I got the new one I put it in hot water for a few minutes which seemed to soften it up a bit.

I love the way it shifts w/ both Tim's and the Schnell.
