Weltmeister chip won't fit

I've got a '87 924S, and the guy who sold it to me included a Weltmeister performance chip. The problem is that the Weltmeister chip has 24 pins and the stock DME chip has 28. The instructions say it's supposed to fit this car and the ECU number in the manual matches as well. Searching around the forum, I found that they switched to the 28 pin DME chip in '88.
Why do I have a 28 pin chip in an '87, and is there some way to make it work anyway? Thanks in advance.

You will need to get the right chip for your DME.
It might have been changed out as a repair. It is hard to tell what someone has done to a 20 year old car.

Well, I found out that my engine is the M44/07 like it should be and not the M44/09 that was for the '88. Someone must have switched the box...

What could I get for it on ebay? I don't know for sure if it works, since it doesn't fit my ECU.

at this point, if i were you, i would be trying to switch it for an '87 computer. either that or you can get some high compression pistons and the camshaft for the '88 model, and then get a performance chip for that '88 computer.

it would obviously be cheaper/easier to get the right DME
