85 shfting problem

Hey everybody. Got a question for you, when im shfting first to second, it is hard to get it into second gear. I can shift into 2nd but it takes me a couple times to get it in, sometimes i have to shift soft and slowly. The other day i was driving around, and what i thought was a stick in my wheelweel, i stop and check it out. Nothing. I get back in my car and continue, maybee 2 minuets later i hear a bolt fly and hit the ground, I didnt stop to look for it. And then a few days later i am struggling to get it into second gear. I think i might be the flywheel to driveshaft bolt or syncros? Any suggestions would help me out with my troubleshooting, and if you could tell me some prices on fixing it I would very much appreciate it. Thank you all.

Sounds like maybe your clutch is starting to go. Chances are you're on just the friction disk. At least, your symptions sound much like mine back in late July.

Cost about $500 for the parts, and $500 for the mechanic to do it (because I'm not that great of a mechanic). It's not cheap, but if it truly is the clutch and that "limp home" mechanism breaks, you're not going to be going ANYWHERE.

i had trouble shifting sometimes when my clutch went. i drove for a long time without knowing it on the 'limp home' mechanism, and some of that was fairly spirited driving... check the clutch inspection hole for chunks of rubber, that's a simple thing to diagnose.
