three holes for Air Oil separator, Oil filler?

I just want to make sure everythings okay here...
i removed the AOS oil filler neck there are two ports on the unit, one upper one lower, now on the engine block, there is a third hole next to the lower hole, it is behind the hole that lines up with the filler neck.

does anything go in there? i want to make sure i didnt loose anything. i cant see anything that lines up with that hole on teh filler neck at the bottom....

You are good, there are only two associated with the AOS. I am not sure what that hole is for but on mine, there was nothing in there.

shew close call. why does pelican show that you need "Seal - Oil Separator/Filler to Engine, Lower, 2 required per car, 924S/944 all, 999-701-661-40-M100"

TWO per car?? am i putting two of the lower ones on the lower part?

one more thing, the filler neck sliped off the work bench when i was cleaning it, there was a small piece of plastic broken off the bottom lip, just ahead of the lower gasket, right on the lip, so a small part of the lower gasket is exposed slightly where it mates with the engine, its a small chip do i need to add an oil filler neck to the list?

Kevin,

When I ordered my seals they sent me 2 large ones and 1 small one. That is what the parts book told them. I only used one big one on the lower and one small on the upper.

Are you rebuilding the engine? Could the other hole be for the ref sensor to go down? I can't answer your plastic chip prob.

thanks Pete! i think the small chip may be okay, since its on the front of the lip, the gasket should keep the oil back, since the sides and back part of the plastic lower rim are OK.

I only see one o-ring on mine so I'm not sure why Pelican calls for two. The o-ring makes the seal so a small chip there shouldn't hurt but I know for sure you don't want an air leak there. I have an extra one of those if you want it...just let me know.

That will leak, replace it. Its possible it wont..but if it does you will be taking the intake manifold off again.

The reason they probably send two large seals and one small one is they changed the size of the o-rings on engines made after a certain year. I think most engines made after '83 got the two different sized o-rings, i have the engine codes in a parts book at home.

Make sure the filler that Tom has is the correct one for your engine.
