timing belt tensioning tool?
I have an 87 944 Turbo - do you need the tensioning tool to replace the timing belt or does it have an automatic/self-adjusting tensioner. Thanks.

you will need a tool to check the tension.

The tensioner is neither automatic or self adjusting. It only gets the tension of the belt close, but never spot on. In my experience it consistently will not put enough tension on the belt.
There is a cheaper alternative to the 9201 tool, check Arnnworx.com |
Thanks fellas.

i bought the kit, did a ton of reading, and had a friend lend a hand, the install went smooth, bruces stuff is great. |
I bought the tools too. Very well made and technical and a whooping cost difference over the factory tool. You will also need a small torque wrench.
