Rear Facing Child Seat Help
Hello, I am new to the forum. I have been looking into buying a 944. I'm pretty certain I will get one as soon as I can convince my wife (and myself) that a rear facing child seat will fit in the back of a 944. I have read some posts in the past where it has been done, but there were not many details. I would like to know if there are any modifications that need to be done, and if so what. also how safe is it. are there any particular rearfacing seat brands/models that fit best. and lastly how pissed do wives get being cramped to fit the car seat in! thanks for your help.
~holmes PS: the care I am looking at is a '86 944 US model if it makes any difference. |

Hi,
I've never tried a rear facing seat in the back, only the front. But why do you want a rear facing one in the back? A front facing seat with the appropriate safety cushion/ head support between the belt and the child is an option, and makes the child much more accessible if e.g. they're choking or something.

The reason for the rear facing child seat is due to US laws that require it for infants within a certain weight/age range. As for the back, it is because my wife doesn't want to ride back there!

just my opinion, and that's all it is...
i don't think these cars are good for the wife and infant combo. wives, if they are of normal size, just won't fit back there, and the car seat option is dubious at best. once the kids are old enough to sit back there, i think it is much more doable. not sure what age/weight that would be. again, just my .02

I have run car seats in the rear seat area for 10 years. Both forward facing and rear facing. You need to find the right seat which will fit the contoured seat bottom.
I have thought many times about creating a 5 point child harness for the rear seats to accomidate my childeren. This was my wifes idea and I like it. Speedy ![]()
